Smoking deal on that 965!! That may be the most processor muscle on the market dollar for dollar.

Is the 965 (am3+) compatible with an AM2+ motherboard? I wouldn't expect it to be, but I've heard conflicting reports.

The 965 is AM3 and will work on AM2+ sockets. Not AM2 sockets though.

I was going to say that's a very good price on the 3550, and then I realized the "K" is missing. D'oh!

Holy crap I'm tempted to make a "budget" gaming rig with that cpu.

New Egg also has the "3550" and has no "3550K" is there a difference between these 2 processors, or is it just a typo?

The vanilla models have a locked multiplier that goes up to four bins higher than the highest Turbo speed of the processor. In other words a processor that Turbos up to 3.7 GHz like the 3550 will have a maximum multiplier of 41x.

K series processors have an unlocked multiplier that goes up to something like 57x, enough to reach the moon. The K series is for overclockers.

K = unlocked multiplier and very overclockable. But of course there's a price premium for the "K", unless you have a Micro Center available, where they actually have very good deals on such processors.

Problem is, the big majority of people dont live near one. There are only a handful in the entire US.

I see no mention of the $20.00 coupon at Tiger. Did I miss it?
The $20 Coupons on both CPUs end tomorrow 6/26 at midnight.

You won't see them posted on the site, because these special offers are exclusively for our HardOCP peeps! ;)
