Vor 12.4 = before 12.4
Ab 12.4 = Starting with 12.4

I'm a bit confused as to what those graphs actually are.. whats the difference between AB Catalyst and Vor Catalyst... both at 12.4...

Looks like a nice upgrade- the new MLAA performs great in comparison, and also looks sharper to me in those screen shots. Very nice.

Now, if only someone could "leak" them so we can test them at our own risk... :p :D

Those are some pretty substantial improvements.. hopefully there will be even higher performance increases for the 7970.

I rather have them release a proper 12.3 with eyefinity 2 in all its part working before they release more alphabe soup features AFKDSLDJFLKASDAAAA that doesn't work for half shit

Hehehe got you by a few seconds, i was able to download them, install them and do a very fast test since my post :D

I can confirm that they are better, but not by much, and SMAA is still muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch better quality wise, still awesome to not depend on the injector.

lol...got me...

If you use AB for unoffical OC mode, good luck...

Youll need to turn it off as ATI has redone the driver structure and removed a DLL AB relies on for that mode...

Or pilfer the dll from a previous version and drop it in syswow64/sytem32 depending on your bitness..its atipdlxx.dll i believe

:p :) that is why i installed over the current drivers, kinda dirty but also got the job done...

I overclock through CCC profiles tho, but sometimes i want to load OSD's without issues and injectors just cant do that (plus for example, it took me a crapload of time to find the proper folder for League of Legends, a silly old fun game without any other way to add AA)

yeah, im beginning to think im gonna have to bios mod my max clocks and use CCC going forward....

The RC11's have been really good to me. Stable, fast and everything works. I can wait for an official release. But those numbers for BF3 do look promising.

Why do you guys not implement the registry tweak to lift the CCC OC limits instead?
It works fine with AB and doesn't require any funky driver installations or DLLs.

the 12.2 pre-certified drivers fixed the BF3 eyefinity issue for me where the center screen has no lock-on indicator etc. or I happened to install the driver the same day as an update for BF3 :p lets hope a 12.4 preview comes out soon :D I wouldn't mind trying this out too.

Which would be.......?

So to be clear is this a 7000 series thing only? or do the 6000 and possibly 5000 benefit from this as well?

i use a 6850 so it is all, as this is just a different version of the MLAA shader, one MUCH more efficient.

dunno, ill have to fiddle...i didnt work at it very long, it didnt work after 10 minutes of fiddling, so i went back to 12.2

Also powerplay was acting all crazy and my clocks were stuck on 3D and wouldnt clock down..

Yeah, I wonder why SMAA hasn't taken off yet?

I tried installing these on Win8 (both through regular install and forcing the install in device manager) and no dice :(

BTW, the code for MLAA 2.0 is in 12.3 Beta, and 12.4 WHQL (when its out), but 12.3 Beta is the one you want for MLAA 2.0

Heya brent, the unofficial 12.3 beta is the one here:
http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=359439

Being unofficial it has some issues that can be fixed when doing a dirty install (install them over 12.2 for example).

Forgot to add, one of the issues is that if i recall correctly they do NOT work with BF3 crossfire. Sorry fellas, UNofficial :p
Confirmed, DO NOT USE IF YOU HAVE A 6990 OR CROSSFIRE AND BF3.

Nice, thanks for the heads up. Do I smell another [H] MLAA/FXAA article in the future (say after Kepler launches)? Please say yes :)

I originally planned to look at MLAA 2.0 in the 7870/7850 evaluation, but simply ran out of time to get that testing in there. So I'll do MLAA 2.0 in a followup.

Can we also get a round of some of the older cards and how they do under MLAA 2.0? ive got two 6870's, but id love to see how it works on the 5000 series as well!

CCC Overdrive is not a replacement for AB when you need voltage bumps. Powertune only increases the TDP limit of the card and doesn't directly affect voltage.

You can do voltage bumps if you use profiles.

What about the Win 8 drivers for 7970's? Are they out yet?

Will be interesting to see if MLAA 2.0 smears textures less than the original version, but I doubt it -- correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't MLAA just a "smoothing" kernel applied to each frame output from the video card? If so, I'd be surprised if there are any significant improvements in image quality given that AMD most likely simply changed the kernel weights...

If you look at the screen captures in the article linked in the OP, it sure looks to me like MLAA 2.0 does a much better job of smoothing the aliasing without blurring the textures.
