ASUS PA238Q, Dell U2312HM or NEC EX231Wp

Hi all,

I am considering to buy a new 23" monitor for movie and photo editing. I found that ASUS PA238Q, Dell U2312HM and NEC EX231Wp are within my budget. I was wondering if the NEC VA panel will be better than the ASUS or Dell e-IPS panel.

I don't play any game so I don't worry about their response time. What I care more is their color and the overall quality of picture. In this case, should I get the NEC, ASUS or Dell?

I've got a PA238Q, the purplish hue and some minor clouding are present, but only noticeable off a angle/when viewing a black screen.
If you want to drive several computers, the HDMI/DVI port can not be used for PbP/PiP simulateneously, ie only with another device connected to VGA(meh) or Displayport, and latter is also limited to single link DVI at 60hz.
It's fairly nice for viewing movies, although nowhere near what a good TV can do.
The stand is quite good, height adjustment, swivel and pivot work well.
Menu buttons are not well laid out, some options are missing, like auto selection of connected inputs, missing black level adjustments and very limited options to customize profiles.
You got only one profile which can make use of most picture adjustment options and you can not assign different profiles to each output.
That can be an issue if your devices require unique picture adjustment options only available in one profilepreset.
Color is fine when viewing head on, but you will want to make full use of the stand to correct inadequacies of the LG-panel. There is no grain.

Depending on your needs you might be better off with either NEC or Dell.
