Report: Facebook Has Acquired Gowalla

A report on CNN Money on Friday night broke the story that Facebook has acquired Gowalla for an undisclosed sum. Gowalla is a location-based service application much like Foresquare, but with more emphasis on promotional tools for partners. Facebook has not commented on the report of the acquisition.

According to CNN’s report, the Gowalla team will be working on Facebook Timeline, with most of the team moving to Facebook’s Palo Alto headquarters

Gowalla use to be kinda cool. You were able to trade virtual items that you found at locations. Check in to places, swap items. All pointless, except for just the fun of finding rare items and seeing who else has had those items. But the scrapped the whole thing, at that point It became a crap version of Foursquare. Not surprised to see them selling to fb.
