Would USB 2 devices benefit from USB 3 power output?

Example, some higher power draw USB 2 devices require two USB plugs, one for data+power and the second for additional power. If plugged into a USB 3 port, would you be able to get by on just having the one plugged in?
 
From what I've heard, there are two extra pins for power, so it probably won't up the power to USB2 devices. Give it a try though, and tell us how it goes.
 
Asus has a setting in the EFI and a utility on their mobo driver CDs that you can enable/install to charge up your cell phones and ipods faster when they're plugged into the USB3 ports...so in theory it should work.

I haven't played with it since I have a cell phone charger next to my desk and I'm too lazy to bring my iPod in from the car.
