This is pretty much the best you can get right now with AMD. It is comparable to the I5 750 experience. AMD will be coming out with 6 cores with AMD version of turbo boost sometime in the next 2 weeks or so. The non BE chip is expected to be in the 200 range and the BE to be near 300. I personally doubt you will see much of a difference between the 4 cores and 6 cores for gaming for the only real addition to the 6 cores is turbo boost and if you OC you may not be able to turbo boost.

Had to pickup my $88 Corsair DDR3-1600 4GB kit before they cancelled it! :D So I grabbed one of these combos as well. Not many boards left at MB, btw.

On another semi-related note, I am out of the loop for ram prices (prices shouldn't go up :mad: ), both deals seem cheaper than similar gskill memory (cheap but good) on the egg, but are these good deals for memory?

Just check the the san jose ad, it is also that price but after MIR. Don't be suprised that when you go to the store that they will have a sign up (in several places saying this was a mistake :rolleyes: )

RAM prices have doubled since Q3'09. 6GB G.Skill DDR3-1600 was $85 at the end of summer. :( DDR3 is currently the same price it was around Q1'09. The typical recommended kits (g.skill/corsair) have been hovering between $95 - $110 for the past couple months or so. OCZ is usually cheaper after rebate, but their sticks need a lot of voltage, which is bad for Intel Core i3/5/7.

The $114 price isn't bad for in-store, esp since there's a $25MIR. If you can wait, I'd suggest getting the G.Skills from Newegg instead, if you need them. The price for those Patriot sticks aren't bad either since they're DDR2-1066 -- I just hate paying so much for DDR2 (bought dozens of 4GB kits for $45 last summer).

The Corsair for $88 pre-$25-mir was a price mistake on frys.com, which is why it's no longer on the website. It's $114 in-store -$25MIR.

I can confirm this - I was told the same today when I attempted to get in on the i3 combo deal. (that sure sold out fast!)
 
Just got back from the store a little while ago, friend bought the ram and cpu/mobo combo, total was around $311.55 after CA tax, plus the $25 rebate for the ram, so under $300 for everything together. Not bad :D

Bought the exact same combo a couple hours ago for my parent's computer. They don't know what USB 3 or SATA 6g means but I told them it is good and they could use this for a long time. That made them happy.
 
Got the i3, P2, Corsair and a couple class 10 16GB SDHC cards. Now waiting for Monday...

I'm still trying to figure out what to do with mine :-/ I went in for the $125 Hitachi 2TB's, and the i3 deal, ended up being OOS on the i3 so bought this instead.

I plan on using the 430 watt version of this model that I got on the cheap at Staples. I am using onboard graphics and nothing more than one hdd and dvd/rw. It will fit my needs well.
 
Thx for posting this deal. Picked it up today. Using it for my grandma's new computer that I'm putting together for her. I got the 650 watt TX Corsair PSU for $99 from Frys as well.
From Microcenter I picked up the $199 80GB Intel SSD, 4GB of DDR3 (Corsair) for $110 and a Antec NSK case.

This will be a very modern system for my grandma, and might be overkill but she's got the $$$ and I see no point in going with a lesser system for under $1,000.

Hard to believe a rig this powerful can be had for that price. The only worthwhile SATA6 (AMD's) and USB3.. tough to beat.

Can I be your grandma? Are you going to stick with the intergrated graphics or get her a 60 dollar card or so?
 
I'm going to use the integrated since it'll run Aero. I have a 8800GT laying around that I could put in it, and I think she's using my old PCI Geforce 5200FX now or a Geforce 2 AGP in the 1700+ I built her almost 10 years ago. This new system should be stutter free with the quadcore and SSD, definitely anything grandma can throw at it. I'm pretty diehard on not buying or building any system without at least the Intel 40GB drive in it from this point forward, hence building my grandma a system with the 80GB.

Never mind it's the x4 960T that unlocks to 6 cores
