Audiotrak Prodigy 7.1 HIFI WINDOWS 7 Driver fail?

I installed the driver manually with Device Manager for my Prodigy HD2.

How did you do it manually from the device driver? I don't think it even sees the card.

In case anyone else is wondering how to go about the windows 7 update. Sounds beautiful on my machine. - but the volume control doesn't work and all the extended features are disabled. Hopefully those will be sorted out in the next driver update.

To install using an isntaller, be sure to right click on the installer and Run As Admin. That gives the installer permission to install in protected areas of the operating system.

If that doesn't work, I'll walk you through the steps to install it manually:
Start>Control Panel >> Hardware and Sound >> Device Manager >> Sound Video and Game Controlers >> Right Click each sound driver and uninstall them (this is to prevent driver conflicts and prioritize the Prodigy 7.1 over onboard sound) >> do not reboot >> Action >> Add Legacy Hardware >> Next >> Install the hardware that I manually select.. >> Sound Video and Game >> Next >> Have Disk >> Browse to the driver you downloaded (be sure that if it is a zip file that you unzip it) >> Pd71HiFi.inf >> open >> (I don't want to go through the whole process again, so from this point on read between the lines) Select Prodigy HIFI Audio first. Then go through the process again and install the Prodigy HIFI controller. Once those are finished reboot. Windows 7 will reinstall the onboard sound drivers. Prodigy HIFI will work. Sounds good. But the volume control barely works; as of version 1.8 for x86 and 1.0 for x64. I run my sound through a JVC receiver and custom speakers. Controlling my volume that way is an okay workaround, but I'd rather use the volume slider on screen.

Seriously I love this card. The tech that went into was very well thought out. Beautiful sound.

I finally got it installed via the uninstall.exe actually.

Running as admin did nothing because it kept saying incompatible, even running under XP Mode.

The volume does not work properly and there is no EQ.

I'm not sure if it's just me but I get audio crackles and pops under CPU Load or heavy disk read/write.

Other than that, great card~
