Just wanted to share and have others be aware if they dealt with Mwave website. I don't know where else to post this.

Today I got a mobile alert from my Discover Card about a large amount. The charge was from CLT Computers and after doing a little research I found out that the company was Mwave. I log onto my Mwave account to see if that charge was associated to my account and it was not. The last thing I bought from Mwave was two years ago. I didn't even bother calling Mwave and called Discover Card. Had the charges reverse and account closed. Now I am waiting for my new card in the mail. There will be a 3 month investigation on the charge. I am mad at the situation but not as mad as some other people I know would be. I took the situation pretty calm and took the necessary steps. I also have to create a new online account and I don't think the old account info or transactions will be transfer over, my cash back will be however, I made sure of that. I also have to reset my card with other companies that I use that card with. I hope after the investigation I can find out how the fraud happen. I use my credit a lot and for this reason, fraud protection. I am not sure if Mwave is responsible or how my account info got leaked. For the people who have dealt with them in the past just look out for a transaction from CLT Computer aka Mwave.

The obvious aside, being a bulls%%t situation and all, I have a question...

Are you saying that someone bought something from Mwave/"CLT Computers" (obviously with a stolen credit card, or at least the account info)?

OR

Aer are you saying that Mwave/"CLT Computers" as a company somehow and for some reason charged you in a fraudulent manner?

At this time I am not sure until the investigation is done. I would like to know how it was done and hopefully Discover Card will tell me.

Well, either way, you should win the case. But be prepared, it takes a very long time for the dispute to end, even if it's clearly fraud or otherwise illegal. Don't know if you've been through credit disputes before, but I have, and they're not fun. It's also not fun when you're on the wrong end, and you're money is taken away from you by false claims...

But anyway, if the first scenario is true, you should pay attention to all your bills and financial activity. You could be a victim of identify theft or just someone stole your account information. Try getting a credit report to see if you notice anything else. Also, it's not Mwave's fault automatically, though it may prove they have some blame either way.

I would also try contacting Mwave, see what they tell you. If it's "good news", try passing it on to your credit card company or have Mwave do it. They may even be able to provide IP address or other identifying information (such as shipping address and name, or phone number) to the proper authorities, though unlikely. But, the more people and information on your side, will make things go easier but not quicker. It's some sort of law that credit investigations have to last a certain amount of time.

If the second scenario is true, I hope Mwave will pay the price and especially whomever is responsible for it happening in the first place. Legit companies fraudulently charging customers is illegal and will not be tolerated. But again, it might not be Mwave's fault either, it could be a "rogue" employee or just a simple mistake somewhere. At any rate, the investigation will take place and in a few months time, you should have some form of answer. I received mine by mail with a check and a phone number.

FYI: I've never done business with Mwave, but I've done business with companies illegally taking my money... Good luck!
