Anyone used this TV? All the review I can find give it pretty decent marks. Just thought I would ask ya'all. Thanks!

We have 23" monitors that are 1920x1080 but a 32" TV is too small for 1080p? Sorry if I don't see the logic.
Not my opinion but some will tell you that 1080p is nearly indistinguishable from 720p when you're sitting on your couch x feet away from the tv on anything less than a 3x or 4x inch monitor. Obviously not relevant for a monitor.

Well it is going to be primarily hooked up to my htpc, some 360 action as well. Already have a good 23" for my main rig.

So living room, right? Like I said, 32" is really small for 1080p content - you really won't notice the difference between 720p. Of course, you can always just try it out at store - stand x feet away and see if notice any difference.

I actually did that today. It was hooked up to a coax input source so I couldn't fully judge sharpness and I'll leave color alone too since I didn't confirm what settings it was on.

The viewing angles were excellent. At extreme angles the picture merely darkened, no color distortion. The screen finish was a smooth matte and seemed to reduce glare well. Lighting appeared to fairly uniform but the video source wasnt perfect. I pulled up the OSD and the pixels on it did appear to be sharp, but it was also large and low res font.

At desk distances it was a good size and pixel density. It was noticeably faster (several frames ahead) than the Samsung next to it although this was via coax could and might differ when bypassing the tuner. Also I'm assuming that the lag wasnt introduced externally (ie a repeater)

I wonder if the Target employees would freak if I hooked my laptop up to it and did some testing. They have a good sale going and hopefully I can get it this weekend. My 20" monitor is feeling kinda shrimpy.

Went ahead and bit on it.

Took a bit of work to make Windows 7 look good but I'm happy with it. I'm coming from a Viewsonic VX2025WM FYI.

Picked up some settings from AVSForum that make it look good.

Picture mode: Movie
Backlight: 25
Brightness: 51
Contrast: 52
Color: 45
Tint: 0
Sharpness: 0

Advanced Video menu
Noise reduction: Off
Color enhancement: Off
Advanced adaptive luma: Off
Enhanced contrast ratio: Off
Color temperature: Normal
-- Red: 116
-- Green: 110
-- Blue: 114

I set Picture Mode to Custom, Color Temperature to Computer, and turned up the backlight to 35.

In CCC I made sure to set the underscan to 0.
I also went ahead and turned up Windows font DPI to 125% and used one of the darker, smoother cleartype settings.

As a sanity check I ran the built in (Windows) color calibration and only ended up turning the gamma up just slightly.

PS: No bad pixels!

Picked up this set today after taking back two voj320f1a that had a blinking bright pixel. I liked that set but I can say this one is much better. It looks great as a monitor. I was considering ordering a LG 32LH30 from amazon when it came back in stock but im glad I seen this at walmart for $448, its great.

As long as you sit around 2.5 to 3ft away from this set 1920x1080p computing will be fine.

I sit 4ft from my Westinghouse 37".

I actually prefer this resolution on a larger display rather than high resolution 30"ers... the text is too small forcing you to sit really close.

There is a shop around the corner who scrap dead tvs for recycling. i have only seen 2 shells from dead LCD/Plasma.. guess what make both of them were?

You found two dead VL320M? Is there a point to this?

Well if you want to risk it go ahead.

They are well known for breaking, having bad tech support, not having replacement parts etc.

Actually Vizio's lineup has been very impressive for 09. I had no issues with any warranty or tech support though I can't speak for replacement parts.

I have a Vizio sv42xv.ect.ect.w/ 120hz and it's not bad as far as black levels but there is alot artifacts when fast motion happens. like the intro into football from commercial. very ,very annoying but Blu Ray
movies look good. I had a Toshiba 37 and never had any artifacts while watching anything. But I will say playing PS3 & Xbox 360 w/120Hz is completely awesome. no motion blur whatsoever, just perfrect for FPS. like COD4 & COD5

to anyone saying you cannot tell the diff between 720 and 1080 .... what the hell is wrong with you man!?

what you can see in the end depends on the source you input - cable and game systems dont count - they all output around 720 anyway

but plug a pc into a 32" tv and play a game at 1280x720 - then slide the slider to 1920x1080 - tell me if you can see a difference

the reason you cant see a diff in bestbuy or walmart is because they are feeding all the tv's the same thing - source material not specifically intended to show the difference between the two resolutions

you cannot create resolution after the fact - a 1080p tv isnt going to make a 480p dvd all of a sudden look amazing...

it's going to make it look very similar to the 720p tv sitting right next to it

but if you queue up a real 1080p source [like say from a computer] and compare it next to a real 720p source [like say... from a computer] you can and will see a difference

Using an 8800gt and DVI to HDMI connection, I've personally found the best settings for use as a monitor to be:

Picture: GAME
Backlight: 50 (lots of room for personal preference here)
Brightness: 66
Contrast: 27
Color: 70
Tint: 0
Sharpness: 1 (0 is too soft for me)

Advanced video:
Noise Reduction: off
Color enhancement: off
Advanced adaptive luma: off
Backlight control: OPC
Color Temp: Custom (red- 155, green- 155, blue- 200
Film Mode: Auto

I've noticed a lot of folks had drastically different backlight or brightness settings. These settings give me the true white I'm looking for, not yellowish.
