Hey well I was just looking at the "rate my cables" post and I saw quiet a few cases with bottom mounted psu's and I saw some that had the fan facing down. So my question is, if I have both 120mm fans mounted on the front that should send enough air for the fan to suck up right? there's like a half inch gap between the case floor and the fan.

As you can see from my previous post some screw's fell through top fan and that kinda freaked me out. Obviously im going to get some mesh for that shit, but i don't know i just want to keep things from getting into the psu and i think putting it with the fan facing down would be the best way.

Anyone running with the psu this way... do you see any temp difference depending on if the psu is upside down or right side up? Plus im thinking about drilling some hole where the fan could be to get even more air inside.

All opinions are welcomed.

Oh by the way i got an antec tru power trio 650 inside this baby.

In my opinion half an inch gap simply isn't enough for a 120mm/140mm fan to pull in enough air to cool the unit down. In these cases you are meant to mount the PSU with the fan facing UP... UNLESS the case has feet that raise it off the ground and there is a fan grille underneath the PSU area.

With it being an Antec PSU I would be even more anxious to have it mounted fan facing up, since Antec have been known to use subpar Teapo electrolytic caps in some of their builds - even the Seasonic platform based units like the Truepower Trio. Crappy 'lytic caps don't respond well to lots of heat....

Now obviously if your PSU didn't have a top (or bottom, heh) mounted fan it wouldn't matter which orientation you used. :)

Well like i stated I would drill some holes right below it, maybe make a design or something, and I would have both 120mm fans in the front sucking air in.

Damn well that sucks man, I went with antec cause i heard lots of god things from them. Especially since they use seasonic builds is there any way to know? or is it just luck if you get a good or bad psu?

NONE of the Antecs are NEARLY as bad as they were 5 years ago so I wouldn't stress about it too much. The TruePower Trios are great units especially if you get a good deal on one... I'm just saying they are still known to use some Teapo and other cheap caps and I'd rather keep the PSU as cool as possible. Half an inch is probably enough for the PSU to pull in enough air during normal operation, but on a hot day with a system pushing a load on the PSU I'd be more comfortable with the fan facing up.

Now if you're cutting your own fan grille on the bottom of the case that's another thing entirely. Your PSU will be able to pull it's own cool outside air and you should have no worries. Happy modding, the Antec Three Hundred is a great case especially if you get in on the Newegg $40 shipped deal!

argh! stupid new egg they get down to 40 bucks the freaking day after i order the thing! but yeah I plan on treating it up, adding a nice window so i can look at all the pretty stuff that's going to be inside.

The PSU can mount either way but if you have a fan on it, you mount it with the fan facing upwards.
That is what the Antec manual says to do.

Sadly the price just went back to what i paid for, but still i think it was a nice deal since i got the case plus the psu for 119.
