Hey all,

I was all excited for Turok for quite some time, went out and got it at the first chance. Installed it and went to play it and..we...the game is missing a tonne of the graphical goods.

No bumpmaps, shadows, etc...looks like a fuckin N64 game for crying out loud. I've updated, down dated, side dated my 8800 drivers, the Ageia drivers, made sure it was set to High in the menus and still nothing. Also tried it in Compatibility mode, and squat.

Anyone know any fixes for this? Its makin me Q_Q

Dunno, I mean to be honest, the demo didnt look all that great on my 360, so maybe thats it.
 
I've heard they dumbed down the graphics a bit on the PC version. Removing shadows, etc.. Kind of sucks ass but its fun as hell to play. Where else can you stab a dinosaur in the face and kick them away only to fight off more attacks using various weapons. I wish you could hold more weapons though. Overall, its a fun arcade shooter but it definitely feels like UT3 and/or GoW, thats for damn sure.
 
It looks a bit better under XP on my older system, which is totally ridiculous...sigh...
 
I was excited about it too, but I ended up uninstalling after a day be cause it won't run for shit on my computer, I get about 19fps and I get about 60 fps with UT3 which looks 10x better IMO. Oh well...
 
I read in a few posts around from torrent sites, of all places, that it has issues with Vista, which I find is total BS.

Games for Windows my ass.

Games for Windows is no different than the THX Certified stickers on audio gear. It doesn't mean that the product met any particular requirements. The manufacturer just paid for the sticker for the sake of marketing, more or less.

By the way, the original Turok was the only decent game in the series. I've heard nothing good about the rest of them.
 
15 goddamn gigs of a game that looks no better than the original Unreal Tournament..seriously where the fuck are all the nice textures. Now I cant even return the game because it's open.

Man this pisses me off
 
I didn't understant that either it has the worst textures I've seen in years and it is huge?

But anyways the game is garbage, and I really wanted to like it..
 
I uninstalled the Ageia driver that was installed automatically and installed the one from the website, the models seems to look a bit better IMO as does the textures, but nothing spectacular.

The textures are there but for some reason arent being used, which pisses me off totally. Hopefully a patch will fix it.

Turok 2 Seeds of Evil was good..
 
This new Turok isn't worth the time or effort. It's horrific. The second (as mentioned above) rocked, but this one just left the entire series in shambles.

Where are the inventive weapons? Why is the knife OBSCENELY powerful? Why is the AI terrible? Why is the gameplay trite? Why are the graphics "state of the art" about three years ago? Why are the much-touted animations so mediocre?

Just got the game today..Not bad and no issues..BTW all the options worked..16xAF,All settings high and rock solid 60fps..Not a bad game at all..Try it!!

Theres a stripped down version available in the bay of eyepatch-owners, thats only 5 and a bit gigs. English only. go figure.

Game sucks though.
