X61s
1.6ghz C2D 800FSB + ultra light screen + Antenna 1GB for about ~1000
(On Sale + 20% off + $100 Cash back through PP)

I'm leaning towards the IBM because I wanted a small laptop but the sony would work as well. I already ordered the compaq but I need to send it back for refund. I have been hearing bad things about compaq's and I am afraid it will fall apart. Also it only supports max of 2GB memory (comes with 512MB and VISTA BASIC LOL). Honestly I don't know what will happen if I put in 2, 2GB sticks, acording to the rep at HP there is no such thing, and the other reps do not know anyting more than the website lists as options 2x512Mb max?

i vote the dell xps 1330 for $1399, same goes for the 1530 which is 15'

when i bought it they still had the gift card coupon. go to a dell place and buy it there cause i got $100 off by buying it at a kiosk in mall.

Look through Lenovo's outlet; You'll find great deals on brand new laptops. I could have saved almost a thousand bucks from my x61.

Dell outlet as well. I payed basically half price for my laptop... Saved over $1000

Dells seem ridiculously overpriced and I hate dell's service as well so I'd prefer not to go dell although I do admit the XPS looks nice the Comparable IBM is cheaper and looks much nicer. The lenevo I wanted was $1700 marked down to about 1000 just due to the sales.

Unfortunately HP refused to cancel my order and it shipped today so I guess I'm getting the POSer. I don't think I will ever buy anything from them again after it taking hours on my cell to attempt to cancel twice and then having them tell me I can cancel but I have to recieve it first then ship it back.. :(

:(

Ok so I am going to return the $500 HP

I ordered the Lenovo X61s
C2D 1.8 (Low Voltage Eddition) 800MHZ FSB 4MB L2
Vista basic (Meh)
12.1" UltraLight with Antenna
1Gb Ram (1Dimm) (Planning to Add 2GB for total of 3 or possibly 4GB and sell the 1GB)
80Gb Hard Drive (Will be scouring Hotdeals once I recover from this hit)
Intel Wireless 4965GN Centrino Pro
Bluetooth
8 Cell battery
1GB Intel® Turbo Memory hard drive cache (HD Cashe card to speed this thing up)

Origional Cost $1,759.00
Total: $1087
Shipping - Free
Recycling Fee - $6
Estimated Tax $89.69
Discounts (USPENDOFYEAR) -$271.80
Instant $400

Modified Total = $1182.89
Then I should receive a 10% back from ecoupons (not sure if this is off modified total, pretaxed discounted total, or origional price so I will assume the worst (10% of 1087) = - 108.7
100 off for using Paypal

New Modified total = 974.19

It will take some time to get the cash back and I'm not sure on the ecoupons thing since it seemed shaddy (basicaly you order but by clicking through their website and they will inform you 7 days after my order ships (which is the middle of next month :( ) Then I have to wait another 60 days to get the cash back. If it works great, if not just one more spam email for gmail to block lol.

Similarly equiped XPS was considerably more even with 500 off, and they do not use the Low Voltage C2D's. However a Refurbished XPS was comparable but I would take the IBM over the dell for my needs (non gaming).

How did I do? Total savings on $880.5 :)
