Trying to work on this computer for a family member and they didnt have the install disc, so I put on xp from a disc I had. Got it installed all fine and dandy, but everything is integrated and I am unable to find the drivers for the ethernet, video, or audio anywhere. emachine website is unhelpful and I am unable to get anyone on tech support that know wtf they are doing.

Anyone know what motherboard this thing might have, or where to download the drivers for the above components?

Hi zrikz

eMachines don't come with install discs, but there should have been a restore disc, which would take the machine back to "factory" condition -- including all the bloatware but that's another issue. Usually there's also "hidden" recovery right on the harddrive. That usually appears as another very small drive.

If you don't have the original recovery disc and you've wiped out the recovery that's on the harddrive by using your own xp disc, it can be a little more difficult to find the drivers, etc.

The motherboard for the t2984 is a SEABREEZE T3 according to the eMachines Parts Depot: http://parts.emachines.com/emachines/sys_lookup.asp. That and maybe this page, http://emachines.com/support/product_support.html?cat=Desktops&subcat=T-Series&model=T2984 might be a help on the audio (AC '97), video (Intel Extreme) and ethernet(Intel PRO) drivers As far as support, have you tried the live online tech support? I know their support can be a hassle, believe me. But it may be worth a try even if you've been through it before. Never know when you'll get the right person.

Good luck!

I looked at the support link you gave me and I see no download links for anything other than the specs and the user manual. The hard drive died and the owners dont have the recovery disc that I know of.

Issue Description

During inspection and routine cleaning, it was discovered that some capacitors had residue on their surface. The safety vent releases built up vapor, leaving a residue on the surface of the capacitor. These electrolytic capacitors are used for bulk decoupling of VCCP. No functional failures were observed. Intel believes that the capacitors will not short out and there are no safety concerns.
Inspect the caps on that board too...
