Simply download this driver and install it by going into device manager and update the monitor driver with this inf, go inside your control panel, ati/nvidia and choose 76hz, or 75hz, both work great. If i put this inside of the 2209WA thread, it would get buried, this way people can see it, i know many people who need this fix. Found this on the net, the credit is not mine, not sure, if anyone knows the artist of this inf please let me know so i can give him his credit that he deserves :)

Are you sure the monitor actually displays 75 frames per second, rather than displaying 60 and dropping the other 15.

Yeah, the 2209WA is one of the few screens that doesnt skip frames.

This thread includes proof that the 2209WA displays 75Hz without skipping frames.

Is there alternate sources for that driver? I've seen complaints that mediafire is not the safest of sites to download from.

Edit: oh, is that the driver found here? The divshare link seems to be safer.

I uploaded it there, it should be ok. I can upload it to another site, just link me. Thanks.

75hz over a DVI connection?

1680x1050@75hz works out to about 133MHz pixel clock, DVI can do up to 165MHz, so that's fine.

Problem comes with 1920x1080/1920x1200, since they'll need more than the 165MHz pixel rate to get anything meaningful over 60Hz.

Are you talking about single-link DVI? Would dual-link DVI have this problem too?

I tried it, didn't work. I set it to 75hz, and it dropped the resolution down to 1080x1024, switching back to 1680x1050 dropped it back down to 60hz, any ideas?

looks like it didn't install properly, seems to be able to do 75hz at 1080x1024 regardless. I'll try again

edit, reinstalling and restarting let me select 76hz at 1680x1050, but 75hz still makes me go down in res, weird. I'll give 76hz a shot and see how it works, thanks OP

It's 165MHz per channel, dual link has two 165MHz channels, so it's just just moves the same limitation to 1920x1200@120Hz / 2560x1600@60Hz.

What about HDMI, can it push higher stuff like 2560x1600@120 Hz?

And DisplayPort?

The video channel in HDMI is identical to single link DVI, so it has a single 165MHz channel.

DP doesn't specify pixel rate in the same way DVI does. DVI (and HDMI) is meant to carry a 24bit per pixel video stream, so they get a prettu straight conversion between bit rate and pixel rate, but DP is a bit more flexible in terms of the data transferred. I think the basic DP is about 5.2 Gbps, compared to 2.9Gbps for a single DVI channel. Im not very familiar with DP, but those numbers works out to about 80% more bandwidth per channel of DP than DVI, but Im not too familiar with it, so they might not compare 1:1 for all I know.

I'm losing the 75 Hz option after coming out of standby (S3). Falling back to 60 Hz and having to reboot before the 75 Hz option is available again. Can you guys use standby successfully?

ATI 3450. Catalyst 11.10. Win7 x64.

I would write an email to the ATI driver development team, they need to steal some of nvidias driver team.

It makes my monitor even more noisy than with 60hz. Does it make your 2209wa more noisy?
