Don't forget to run the monitor validator to check the deltaE on your colors. I have not been able to do better than .9.
I am running at 6500k, 100cd/m (or 110 still making up my mind), you will need the lower light level if you are going to be proofing prints.
I lowered all color guns...
TypicalSloan: Same here. My first thought on seeing the VGA hooked up is that they are actually doing a visual inspection of the panels before shipping. I have not heard many complaints about dead/stuck pixels on the 2407wfp-hc, so perhaps they learned their lesson and are pulling "bad" ones...
Concerning the 2407wfp-hc for photo retouching:
Did a headshot last night for a client. Decided to give the 2407 a blind try and not reference my other monitors. (I did run the 2407 through calibration earlier, but it looks like I need to read more on how to set up LCD panels for this kind of...
Concerning that green ghost in your machines....
very easy to see if you hit here, nice torture test image of pixel clock and phase:

If you are running VGA input then you will want to check the site out more. Grab the window and wiggle.

zerzax: gaming? not playing much these days. suppose i could load up FEAR again and see... have dual 7800gs in sli in that machine. But try this, go here:

and drag our browser window around. Twinkle twinkle and if on VGA green blotchies. But this is a...
ZerazaX: BenQ does make some s-ips panels, but I don't know what their current offering is. Go to:
http://www.flatpanels.dk/panels.php
and shop around. The FP241W is a highly rated PVA panel. But not without it's own problems!
JiBB: Believe me, I understand. Like I said, I did over two...
There are a few places that you can buy that will offer a "zero dead pixel" policy for a premium on select monitors.

Hi JiBB,
First let me say that I am satisfied with my 2407wfp-hc. I paid 609+tax, free next biz day shipping, and a $100 coupon to boot. My display in clean with no dead or stuck pixels.
My first impressions are very positive. I believe the 2407wfp-hc will be a great general purpose...
repoman,
you do not need to see rgb (1,1,1)! On a properly calibrated and profiled CRT you should just barely (and I mean BARELY) see RGB (5,5,5) and RGB(10,10,10) being just a bit more visible. I wouldn't expect that from an LCD panel. Will do some testing tonight. My 2407-HC should arrive...
I just picked up a 2007wfp from criagslist even though i am receiving my 2407wfp-hc today. If you are going to be doing any photo editing, you'll want the s-ips panel. But we'll see tonight how they compare. But everything I've researched pretty much says the 2407 won't be usable for critical...
Manny,
Try to use pure methanol from a good optics cleaner like Eclipse. This should remove any gum from the tape and will not harm the glass. Unless it managed to seep under the glass plate. No easy fix for that... I use Eclipse to clean the sensor on my canon 1d mark ii so I know it's safe...
Well, it was a hard decision but I went for the Dell 2407WFP-HC. Can't afford the NEC H-ISP 26" panel although that is what I'd really like. Felt pretty good after I called in and got the 2407WFP-HC for 607 + tax, no shipping and a $100 gift card (but wasn't able to apply to this purchase). They...
asus a8n-sli premium with the official 1008 bios I get 1.5 max.

cool-n-quiet is...
Very stable with reasonable overclocks. Limited ram voltages.... and limited ram support. Check supported ram before buying board. A LOT of people have found this out the HARD way.
Comes with a thorough manual. Read it. If you have a single mem. stick, it HAS to go in a specific slot. Never...
