I cannot get this new Logitech G9 mouse Setpoint software (in Vista) to auo-detect my games and apps at startup. The new Setpoint II is supposed to be able to automatically detect applications and games when they start, but it does not appear to be working in my combination of Vista and...
No. Actually this happened last night but I didn't describe it accurately. I came into HardForum to confirm what I should have done, vs what I already did. But, I would agree that my patience to get my new rig up and running was short at midnight last night when I discovered my fateful...
It's a new Asus P5B-Plus mobo, so yes it appears it has this stub from what I recall (I've packed away the case and fan, so can't see it right now.)
Thanks.
Assuming this mobo is fried and I need to get another, exactly which three of the four pins should I connect. Should it be the far right 3 or the far left 3? I also have an aerocool FP-01 fan controller/memory card reader which can be used to control the fan. Should I plug the heatsink fan...
$hit. That's what I just did, and got some nice smoke coming from my mobo. Now, it appears my mobo is dead-- the green light at the bottom right of the board lights up, but nothing else powers up. Should I assume this mobo is now fried?
I am building my new PC-- Asus P5B-Plus motherboard, Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme heatsink, and a yate loon fan to cool this heatsink. It's been years since I last built a rig so I have a question on connecting the heatsink fan.
My mobo has a 4-pin header, but my yate loon fan has the 4-pin...
Same here. I get a "failed to intialize rendering device" error.
I'm using a widescreen LCD (Viewsonic VX2025wm) so I suspect it may be the current resolution I'm running at?!? (1680x1050)
Any thoughts?
I too tried this on mine to no avail. Seems dependent on the app- some games don't do it whereas Windows Media player does. The option in my ATI Omega driver is called "Scale Image to panel size" found in Display Properties...Advanced Settings... Displays tab.
Read the massive VX2025wm thread. You'll assure yourself it's the right purchase. I did, and I extremely happy with my VX2025wm. Great looking monitor and superb image quality for both gaming and text work.
Make sure you have videocard hardware to drive it. (ATI X800XT-series or nVidia...
Sparks-
I just played BF2 over lunch on my ATI AIW X800XT and Viewsonic VX2025wm widescreen monitor at 1680x1050. NO serious problems. There is a bit of chugging in certain spots on a map, but for the most part you can turn down the video options (~medium) to make it very playable and still...
I broke down and bought ES: Oblivion. Looks frickin awesome at native resolution, and I am NOT having any problems with my FPS! My specs are pretty modest compared to other beefy rigs out there. I certainly don't have many setting cranked up (i.e. AA, draw distance, etc.), but it looks so good...
Are you guys connected via DVI or VGA? I cannot access that manual settings menu with the Digital Vibrance & Image shapening selections. The PDF manual states this is unavailable when running DVI (vs. VGA).
Just read that review as well. Though I've been waiting for this model, I'm sticking with my Viewsonic VX2025wm for $394 from CompUSA. Seems like mine will still have equivalent or better image performance (albeit fewer features) for much less $$$... highly recommended for those who had been...
I'm using Windows Media Playter 10. For movies in 4:3 ratio, it shows black bars on both sides and retains the original 4:3 ratio...
Have yet to try my HD WMV movies...
I have not yet played BF2 with this... I just set it up to run and haven't yet found the time to play it. I will in the next few days, so I'll report my findings here. I, too, would like to wait on upgrading my mobo and vidcard, but the game requirement may force my hand (wallet) earlier than...
I purchased the Viewsonic VX2025wm last Friday and finally got the chance to fire it up. Coming from a solid 19" Dell CRT, my intial impressions are:
PROs:
Great looking monitor. Blends well with my Saitech keyboard and MX1000 mouse.
Image quality is EXCELLENT. I have ZERO dead pixels...
Save $5 more and get it for $394 at CompUSA.
Coupons here and here. There is no barcode, but I just bought this VX2025wm at CompUSA 2 hrs ago and will end up paying $394 (before taxes). They accepted this coupon, but YMMV.
21-day return policy with no restocking fee. Not sure about Fry's, as...
Ok, I made the plunge. Just got back from CompUSA, where I got as good a deal as I'll find for some time. I paid $499-$5 (coupon)-$100 mfg rebate for a total of $394 before taxes.
I'll set it this new Viewsonic VX2025wm and provide my own review in this thread. Note that I am a VERY...
Specs look good, and I like the option of a 21" WS vs. the ubiquitous 20" panels out there. Price seems a bit high, but should come down with more product in the retail channel.
Any other thoughts on this monitor as a gaming/video editing display?
I've been hitting this URL since last week:
http://premiersupport.dell.com/support/edocs/monitors/2407WFP/en/index.htm
It used to come up as a 404 error. Now it has "User Guide" heading posted. I'm expecting the 2407FPW specs page up this week. Maybe even before the alleged Thursday...
Now available for sale at JR.com for $549.99:

The Samsung LCD product page now has it listed:

I believe it is black-to-white, though I'm not certain on this. I would bet that the g-to-g will be better than the current 2005FPW performance. Maybe 8ms?
I suppose you could pick one up for the next <21 days (Dell policy) and return it if the new 2007WFP does indeed look superior (and worth the extra $$$). I've just held off on the 2005FPW because of the notorious backlight bleedthrough problems noted in other threads here.
Well, even though the posted spec of the 2007WFP is 16ms (white-to-black), the panel performance should be superior to the 2005FPW. I cannot imagine Dell releasing a new monitor with equivalent performance as the previous one. As such, I'd wait for real hardware reviews of the 2007WFP to...
I think I'll still wait for hardware reviews before making a final determination on this Dell monitor vs another. I like the adjustment features of this Dell (pivot, height, etc.) and the overall aesthetics. I like the Benq, Viewsonic, and NEC 20" widescreen monitors as well. But, I don't care...
