Assassin's Creed Gameplay Performance and IQ @ [H]

I may be wrong, here, but it seems as though Nvidia is paying Ubisoft to remove 10.1 support because it benifits only ATI?

    Corsair HX1000W PSU Review @ [H]

Another nicely in-depth review by the [H]! Ialso am curious what the actual retail price of this unit will be when it hits the virtual stores. Would buy one if I had a need for that much juice.

    I'd love one...but I'm not a winner!

    Thermaltake ToughPower 1200W @ [H]

Nicely done review, as always folks. The only negative I notice is the inability to power two 8800GTXs with only three 6 pin pcie connects. Of course you can have three next gen products!

    Gimmick, or Holy Grail?

What is also of concern to me: What happens if a short is encountered? All that capacatance going off at once might just have more than a passing resemblance to the abovementioned firecrackers!

open box/display PSU's: Would you buy one?

The warrantee would be worth $5.52 to me...if I didn't need a P.S. today. _ReeL

    What OEM makes Enermax 1000W?

These may help. http://www.jonnyguru.com/PSU/Galaxy1K/ Don't know the 850W Silverstone, but this may be similar. http://www.jonnyguru.com/PSU/ST75ZF/ _ReeL

    Independent power supplies

Should work for extra fans, or pelts, assuming the pelts are 12V, and not 15 or 19v ones. Check the total wattage, also. You can make it(atx) work by jumping the green wire and any black wire on the motherboard connector. _ReeL

And is it fully warranted? If you *need* it right away, today, sure.

Enermax Liberty or PP & C Silencer 750?

I think the PC P&C is just more power than you need. If you needed 600-650 watts, it would have been recomended more strongly. Umm... I'm not one of those experts! _ReeL

    Gimmick, or Holy Grail?

I'm no electronics guru, either. However logic dictates that a UPS won't do what these units will because the power has been altered by the computers power supply. I think these do what thepower supply caps on the MB do, but at a much greater...volumn? What they do seem to do is filter out...

    [H] Enthusiast Power Supply Reviewer

I believe no one does more in-depth power supply reviews than JonnyGuru. He has the equipment and isn't afraid to use it! I like the empirical data he supplies, and the fact that he's willing to change his oppinion in the face of evidence. Most reviews one sees go like this: "I put this PS in...

    Gimmick, or Holy Grail?

That's for sure! I know my ears ain't good enough to tell the difference between ten dollar audio cables and thousand dollar ones. Maybe these units could help Uber-overclockers and people who "play" benchmarks, but if your 'puters don't crash with what you do with them, why spend $$ for no...

    Gimmick, or Holy Grail?

And if this is a "good thing", why wouldn't a UPS type device with a battery instead of caps between the PS and the mobo/vid cards be the shiznit? Should show near zero ripple. Perhaps I'm wrong... now I gotta learn me up some stuff. Damn. _ReeL

    Gimmick, or Holy Grail?

http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=getarticle&number=2&artpage=2000&articID=474 If nothing else, these units would cure any ripple problems a PSU might have. Lotta caps, though... Bet they won't be cheap, even if they do go into production! _ReeL

PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750

Personally, without having any electronics knowlege to back it up, I like the idea of one rail. Depending on how the PS manufacturer decides to split connectors, It looks like one could run short on wattage/amperage on one of four rails while another rail is nearly unused. Even with a huge power...

PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750

Apparantly these are single rail PS's? Looks like one 60A rail in the pdf. Can that be in spec with latest power supply specs that call for multiple rails? Imagine two of these paraleled together! Cheaper than one 850W or 1000W, and would really compensate for a tiny...LoL! _ReeL

What are your thoughts on this?

Thanks everyone, for taking the time to answer my ques. What a helpful forum! Also, Jonny, what a great site you got. Chock-full of interesting, useful data. Can't wait to see a 750+ watt ps hit at least "9" on the Jonnymeter! I doubt I need that much juice, but I want it. Gotta compensate for...

    New [H]ard|OCP Design [FINAL]

Looking better. There are still a few pixels in width you could use at 1024 by 768! Is there a technical reason for the fixed-width? Although I'm useing a 19" monitor at this time at 1024x768, that will change, I hope... Hell, I'll get used to whatever you do. It's not like I'd quit...
