I've never noticed any lag, even using cheap passive 2.0 cables. You will however run into signal integrity issues at anything over a few meters if you don't get active cables.
Don't be, I'm still gaming on pascal.
There are five more servers just like that in the cluster I'm building, so 20 3090s. And I've been stuck in the EVGA queues since December...
EVGA has never used styrofoam to my knowledge. It's a black open cell foam similar to what Dell is shipping servers in these days.
it's similar, clear plastic molded to keep the graphics card from moving around.

The Cross-Buy apps list is here: https://www.oculus.com/experiences/quest/section/2335732183153590/
Not all games are Cross-Buy unfortunately. So to play them on Quest you'll need to stream them from your PC with a Link cable or wirelessly with ALVR or Virtual Desktop. (Make sure to get the...
The fuckery with these most recent GPU launches has killed any need I have to upgrade my GPU. My older cards still work. I have zero FOMO, especially for consumer electronics.

My old gpu didn't stop working, why should I pay more than I need to for it's replacement?
Not one damn penny over MSRP will be spent. I'll save that money for the waterblock and some shiny new fittings.
Other than a few games, I play VR out of an office chair in the middle of my play space, including FO4. For games on Steam that don't have good individual settings, which is nearly all of them, you need OpenVR Advanced Settings: https://github.com/matzman666/OpenVR-AdvancedSettings
DJ Lushious Your only real upgrade on x79 would be an e5-1680 v2. Two more cores, and an unlocked multiplier...
Unless you are doing work that will get you paid, I'd wait and see what AMD/TSMC and Intel drop between now and 2h 2021.
That's a 2xxx series, so no. The only overclockable socket 2011 Xeons are 1xxx v1, v2 or v3, not v4.
However, there was an x99 bug with v3 Xeons that you could hack the microcode and run it at full boost on all cores.
However, a 2676v3 only boosts to 3.1ghz.
It works off of a whitelist, something in your box isn't on said list. It usually takes them a few months to update the list for new HW. Your 3950x is the likely culprit. This problem will solve itself with an automatic update shortly.

That's what I thought too, then I actually used a Rift S. The biggest difference isn't the blacks, but the reduced SDE by getting away from the OLED pentile subpixel layout. Even though it's "lower resolution" it does not feel like it.
I do still prefer my Quest though, but mainly for other...
HTC still makes HMDs? Who knew?
Oh god, it still ships with the wands? Yuck. Save a bit and get the surprisingly competitive Rift S or be a baller and get a full Index setup.
It should have two sensors in the box. Your best bet is to set them up diagonally across from each other in your play space. Ignore the software and click the skip button if it bitches too much.
Get it set up and play some Robo Recall. Once you have it working we can recommend some games.
And...
Maintaining software? They all autoupdate. Learning how to use it? Pin the game icon to Start and rarely ever see the launcher window itself. Do all the gamers you know live in Amish retirement communities or something? These are not problems that require complicated solutions.

You pay to develop a game, you pick what platforms it's on.
I still don't get why people love Valve so much, as though they don't do everything they can to keep people addicted to their platform. Remember when everyone hated that The Orange Box required Steam? People were livid. Now they're...
How much depends on where you put the radiator.
I'm using an NZXT Kraken G12 w/ a Corsair H60. The front fan cools the power circuitry which dumps a little heat into the case. I have the radiator set up as an exhaust so the majority of the heat gets dumped out the back of my case.
My 10gb NIC...
