No have not tried it. I am trying to avoid making such a purchase and waste the time of waiting for it to get here then returning it and waiting for something else should I have to order a diff brand ya know? I'd just rather get something tried and true the first time. The incompatibility was...
I purchased a Maximus VII Formula and am trying to nail down the ram. However I'm finding that the RipJaw/Trident series are not compatible. Is there any "give" to this or shall I look at another manufacturer and if so what do you guys suggest? I've been researching as much as possible but there...
Ok, yeah that sounds tricky although I'm sure if I was using it it would make more sense to me. I will def take you up on that "walkthrough" JUST to be sure. Good point about the dame size drive. I will have to purchase another identical drive then first. Thanks SO much for this help. I hope it...
I do have another drive for backups...just didnt use it in time this time :( So, I'll need to either build a linux system or VM it? Any recommended recovery software?
Hey fellas, I had a WD6401aals go awry on me after a O&O Defrag/reboot. Although it did shows signs of slowing down prior to that. However I purchased a new hdd and when I plug in my old aals to transfer files over, Win7 sees it, attempts to install drivers for it then it crashes my system...
Ahh, ty Danny, that's what I wanted to hear as I was not wanting to shell out the money for a Raptor again.
Thanks alot Bill, I'll give 'em a shot! Too bad the local Micro Center doesn't have them. Then again I'd be paying quite a bit more if they did I suppose lol.
Hey fellas, I've been out the loop for a while, ran a few searches on this topic but never really found a solid answer and am hoping you guys can set me straight. For this old system, I'm on a tight budget. I want something just as fast or close enough I wouldn't be able to tell, to my Raptor...
Ahh Lee Valley, awesome store with awesome prices. I get my 1 1/2" belts from there. They seem to be one of the very few places that carry 1200 grit, leather and blue zirconia belts.
Very well done man. You definatley had a great foundation, it's surprising what some of these old/mainstream cases offer and you really showed the potential of these. I too, LOVE to mod older cases for fun and experience. Awesome job man, I'd pimp that case in a heartbeat
Hope this...
Haha, this is pretty neat and exciting (even though its not me lol) I mean your first time for PC games and your starting off with an awesome system. Your about to open a whole new world in gaming haha. I have nothing to add as Jacob got you covered, I just thought this was awesome and thought...
I personally use thin metal washers to sandwich the cut-off wheel. Apparently it's not needed but I have had a few work themselves loose and enlarge the collet hole so the cut-off wheel actually lost its attachment. Up to you though. Just make sure its very tight. Whatcha cuttin' ?
I got one that i can send some pics your way. Do you have anything that you'd like to get rid of (i.e. old tools, old car stereo stuff, other misc PC stuff etc) I mean we can do cash too idc either way. I'll shoot you a pm with my number. Im here in Green Valley near DIA in Denver.
Hey fellas I was testing an old evga 8800 GTX I sold to a buddy and when we fired up ATI tool we kept getting Delta errors on the stock clocks. Its at 62c idle and gets to 68-77c under stress. Pretty cool to me. Any ideas? We OC'd it from a range of stock to 620/1453 965 and it appears as the...
Yes, it exhausts hot air out the back. As the temp rises the fan spins faster. As the fan spins faster more hot air is blown out the back. When mine is on low, the air feels "cool" when i crank it up the air is warmer as more heat is expelled. 51C is not bad at all IMO.
Bent fins and missing rubber strips is usually the vendors fault. I too have this cooler and while I have yet to get this going i did mount it to make sure it would clear my P5Q pro and it does very nicely (your board may be different) Just do a little research. Also here is some comparisons...
Wow, I really dig that, not too common to see laptops getting a make over and you executed it damn well. Glad you posted this, make me want to theme one too...
Ok fellas, who wants to donate :D
Best thing to do man is hit up the water cooling section here as those guy's know their stuff well and get tailor your needs very quickly. I too was wanting a kit as it was easy but after a few weeks of solid research and some help from Arcygenical , him and I pieced one together, powerful but...
Their workmanship/service is top notch in all my interactions. However it's a 250.00 case (unless my 2:30am eyes are deceiving me) with $385.00 difference for the upgrades not to mention shipping costs. I'd calculate the cost of your own part selection and what it takes to do it yourself...
I suppose a guy could get a bit "excited" in actual required cfm to cool a given case. I never thought about this much until you said that. I'll have to see how at what point im just "blowing air" lol w/o actually improving upon the cooling characteristics of my set up. I can see how you can...
I'm sure manufacturers exaggerate their specs a bit; fair enough, but the bottom line is the fans are very very quiet and move tons of air. I know "quiet" is subjective to the specific person, so you'll have to do your research and try a few :)
Hard to beat a TT Cat fan, uglier than sin but a little paint and your good to go man. Another great fan i've been using along with the TT cat is the Enermax Magma (twister) All below 20db and push about 69cfm. Theres always alternative but I've yet to see much comp for the Cat fan (for the...
Hey fellas I need a little schooling and suggestions on how to set my drives up. Im familiar with raid 0 and im "text" familiar with JBOD. Here's what i got: 1 old school 150 Raptor non X (same drive w/o the window) and a WD6401AALS. I'd like to use the Raptor for OS, apps and maybe a few...
Yeah that's why I stated "I'm sure you all already know about this and or others" However I saw a few guys recently that asked what they can use for drawing up a case and planning a mod so I thought I and hopefully others would put their favs here :)
Just one of those "BTW" threads for the...
I'm sure alot of you may already know this and or have a nice CAD set up or the like, but I thought I should post this up here for those that are not sure where to begin with visually creating a case from ground up or modifying an existing design. Best of all it's free :)
Sketchup - 2D/3D...
Thats interesting, I cant imagine it being but hey im no specialist. I tried a Google search but came up empty handed on that. maybe you have better Google skills or maybe call a MDF manufacturer and see what they say. If you find out before me, let us know so I know where to go from there as...
I see what your saying, with that huge fan I doubt it would suck it out, it would have to be greater than your 4 intakes, at the same time I don't know if you would benefit from it. I could see if you had a divider in your case and wanting to vent the lower chamber but ya don't. I personally...
Yeah the sticky residue is the glue left over as he said just use the alcohol. On a side note for the anal-retentive, you can use 99% Isopropyl as it contains less conditioners which mean less residue but Ive never had a problem with the reg stuff.
Damn thats sexy I've never given it much thought about making a case out of MDF or any wood for that matter and have always wanted to make my own case from scratch. The involved metal work, namely machining parts, has always kept me from doing this, but man after seeing how "metallic" and nice...
Im not real savvy on this but I know there is usually a fluctuation between core temps on multi cores (mine does as well but not that dramatic) make sure all your cooling apparatuses are properly TIM'd and seated.
Hopefully these guys will chime in as well.
I responded more as to bump...

Heres my reply from another thread. Like I was saying just lightly sand to match sheen. As far as primer touch up, if you want the same effect just use a primer, either in paint on or spray on, however for the spray on, just shoot a little in a bottle cap and paint on as I mentioned in this...

Here's a little review I did over on my clan site. Its the Wolf King Trooper. I compared it in this particular thread to the G5. Since then I've compared it to the G7, Various Razers and Microsoft's. My stats on various FPS's...

You'll do just fine with any automotive paint. Some guys may get snobby about the paint but as long as the paint is a name brand automotive the quality is mainly in the prep, application and proper cure time.
I use Dupli-Color because they have the color I like and it's a tad cheaper.
If...
