I find this funny. If anyone cares I recently threw up a webpage/blog where I highlight the cringeworthy crap I have been seeing on Marketplace.

Ok folks. Spring cleaning my Humble Bundles. Most are Steam but some are on other platforms. Some may just be extra skins or some such. I just want to clean up my account.
Please note I wont be giving out anything to people with less than a year in, unless they have a higher post count. As you...
Ah excellent. Thanks for the info. I didnt know they could be configured without the software and just the app. That might be nice as well. The cool thing is that it can grow if he wants more power elsewhere.
Hello all. I am looking to install some ubiquiti points for my dads house because he is tried of dropped signal. I am think 2-3 points should work. My question, since I havent actually used these before is how to control them. I know from installations a friend has done that you need a dedicated...
Thanks for the tips so far. We use Cisco in our environment and I primarily work with the Network assistant app to do most of my VLAN changes on ports and port labeling etc. I have done command line stuff before but never done a ground up build on one.
Hello all. I am getting a 2960g switch or two from work and want to practice "building" one from scratch. I want the basic network functions and some VLANs to play with. Does anyone have a good resource for a step by step style for this. I have books and stuff but was wondering people's personal...
Thanks for the suggestions. I did install a host locally and am P to V ing the machine locally. I will export files on Friday afternoon, have some onsite overnight me the drive for saturday and then import to our environment here. Going to be a bit of downtime but not much. Up to this machine...
Good morning all. I have a machine with about 4tb of data that I need to P to V. I tried pulling it over our MPLS and managed to get 40% before the stupid remote site had a power outage. I know there isnt a way to resume so Im looking for some options as to how best to do this. At this point im...
Thanks for the comments. We saw the patch design online and knew right away we wanted to do it. It turned out great. We are going to do it from now on.
First post in here but I wanted to share a recent build we did for our new corporate HQ.
Here is the equipment list:
24x - Cisco 2960XR 48pt switches with the redundant power and stack modules

Like the topic implies is it possible to keep your power usage low on VM host? I want to make a machine I can use for labs that wont be running 500 watts constantly. Anyone currently doing this want to share some insight?
I am building my first HTPC out of a laptop with a cracked screen and wanted to know what the best dashboard style app to use. I want to have Steam for some light gaming, movies, music, etc. I also want to have shortcuts to play netflix and emulators. I have heard of XBMC but was wondering if...
So long story short I loaded up one of our spare blades at work with a copy of Vsphere 5 Standard to create a training environment for certs. Now right now I have everything on its own switch in VM and it doesn't go anywhere but I want to be able to get out to the web to download updates and the...
I was wondering what the easiest (and cheapest) way is to get into virtualized desktops. I use Vsphere all the time but would like to get into learning about the other end and learning virtualized desktop environments.
Any help would be great.
This is about what I have done as well. I almost treated it like making an image for a WDS server. I have one for our 2k8 r2 servers and It has a partition for the OS and the pagefile. I tried to follow the best practice as much as possible.
QHalo, whats the reason for disabling the TCP offload?
So here are the specs:
ESXi 5.1.0
2 hosts - HP Bl680c blades with 4 quad core Xeons and 128gb of RAM each
I use Storage DRS and have HA and DRS Enabled.
I have these hosts in a cluster
So for some reason if I try to evacuate a host and put it in maintenance mode I get an error from HA...
So long story short we have an aging Server 2003 server that we are migrating to a virtual server 2k8 R2 server. We are looking for a good tool to migrate the data and keep the permissions.
Thought I would ask the [H]orde what they had work for them.
:D
Found it! We used wireshark for the Mac and then some sniffer tools to ID what switch then toned out the port. Turned out is was a stupid wifi point we gave to someone to use as a switch and neglected to remove all the settings first (I didnt give it out BTW).
Thanks for all the help everyone...
Recently, from time to time, throughout the work day certain workstations are automatically changing their DNS server. This will happen at any time with no explanation. It will change the workstations DNS server from our DNS server to 10.1.0.1. Internal apps/email/websites will continue to...
Hello all. We actually attached the console cable and right on the main screen it gave us the VLAN mismatch info. It allowed us to find the port on the data center switch and correct the issue.
All is well now. Thanks for all the help everyone. You put me in the right direction.
I am not sure of the VLAN on this switch. We actually have it configed for a bunch of VLANs so I think the uplink is a trunk.
djflow I will try some of those commands.
So super short cliffs version:
We have a switch in our IT office, Cisco 2960G. It plugs into the wall and goes to the server room and connects somewhere. This weekend we redid almost the whole server room and now this switch can connect to the rest of the network. The uplink has a link light...
