I have the latest BIOS, latest drivers for everything, I had the same problem with my last 2 sticks of ram (OCZ) that I tought were defective and the new ones are acting the same.
After having a lot of problems with my system recently, I came to the conclusion that my motherboard is defective. I've been having a lot of random BSOD on a new install of Vista all related to memory management or IRQL_Not_Less_Or_Equal, so after changing both sticks of memory, I gave up...
Hey guys,
here's my setup
Asus P5W DH Deluxe (with latest BIOS)
E6400 @ 400FSB 3.2GHz
OCZ Gold XTC PC2-6400 2GB
Vista 32bit SP1
I'm currently having problems with my RAM at that speed (random reboots) and since I can't set the timings of my RAM in the BIOS (it won't post), I want to...
UPDATE: I pressed F2 after hearing the beep (to set the default settings in the BIOS) and I left it running for 5 minutes. There wasn't any signal on the screen (I tried both DVI outputs).
I decided to try it with VNC so I connected to it and it worked! So that means the video card is shot...

A week ago, I arrived at home after a weekend out and my computer was shut down. My parents told me there was a power outage so they disconnected the computer after a shut down.
I start it up and I hear the usual X1900XTX fan at full speed like it does everytime I start it up and the the fan...

(Semi) Success!
I realised what the problem was. When I set the RAM at SPD, everything worked. The FSB is now at 400MHz, RAM at 800MHz (still at SPD, which is 5-6-6-18-24) and vcore is at 1.4v.
10 minutes ago, it was at 1.375v but after running 10min of orthos at 55C, I decided to open Firefox...

I read the oc'ing guide in the subforum but they weren't talking about the multiplier anywhere. But I did what you asked and now I'm running at 400MHz with the multiplier at 6x, I had to increase the vcore to 1.3v. But once I achieved that, what are the steps?
I already did that, but every information I get is different... that's why I'm asking here.
Anyways, I increased the MCH to 1.65 and tried to boot it with vcore 1.3v and 350MHz with RAM running at 350MHz (700MHz).
It did the same thing and just wouldn't start at all. I then increased the...
I'm not really sure what's the chipset.... so here's the specs for my mobo

From another thread in another section.
My problem is that the computer won't boot if I increase the FSB a little bit more.

Hope everything is there to understand the problem.
I took screenshots of the important BIOS screens and CPU-Z.
Other than that, the power supply is a Corsair HS520. The video card is a X1900XTX. And the memory is 2 sticks of OCZ Gold XTC 1GB PC2-6400.
Edit: With a Vcore of 1.4, it wouldn't boot at 350MHz... and the RAM was at a lower...
Ok thanks, anyways, I just reinstalled the HSF. The temp is back at 36-37C at idle and 45C under load (3min in Orthos small FFTs) and I lowered the vcore to 1.3v (stock is supposed to be 1.2v).
But I have a question regarding the mobo. I see people with the same motherboard and on stock...
Tuniq Tower installed.
FSB: 333MHz
Vcore: 1.375V
Idle temp: 39-41C
Load temp with Orthos for 20min: 53C
Stable with Orthos and OCCT. I'll try to bump it more to get the memory at 400MHz.
Edit: I tried to bump it at 350MHz and it wouldn't boot. I think I'm limited by the motherboard (P5W DH...
I noticed that when my temps were in the 56-57C load, when it came back it idled at 49-50C. And it hasn't gone back to the 45-46C. So now I'm considering a new cooler, because mine was really difficult to lock in place because the plastic pins we're bent.
Which one is good and isn't too...
I'll try to reinstall the HSF, but this time I'll use AS5, if I find my tube...
Any tip on putting AS5 on a C2D? (I'm watching the video, I don't know if they talk about that, or if they show the stock pad)
FSB is at 300mhz with the stock multiplier, Vcore is at 1.375v.
Which gives 1-2C more...
Here's a (awful) drawing of what it looks like in my case. Antec NSK6500
I removed the tube thats brings air from the outside of the case to the CPU fan and replaced it with a 8cm Antec fan I had from another case. I also added a 8cm fan to the rear of my X1900XTX to keep it from...
I have a Core 2 Duo E6400 with an Asus P5W DH Deluxe and when I'm in the BIOS, the temperature reads 39-40C but when I'm in XP and I use Intel TAT or Core Temp, the temperature is at 58C.
Which temperature is the good one?
By the way, the temperature is the same if I put the CPU at stock...
