Get a colorimeter - they're like 50 bucks.
As for input lag, its really one of those things that will affect you individually. Most won't notice it, and it won't affect you outside of competitive FPS'ers. A little input lag on top of the net latency though will noticeably change your...
I used to game in Cal-invite and various tournaments... at the end of the day, most of my clan used 1024x768 on CRTs exactly as the OP said above in his first reply to me.
Most tournaments at the time that used LCD's were considered a joke. But now adays things have changed a bit... A large...
Of the 3 I've had, 2 of my 3007wfp-hc's had this yellow problem. I think that most people don't see it. But if you put an all-white screen up, and look at it for 15 seconds or so, you'll see it - and you'll never be able to ignore it again. Although the first monitor I had didn't have this...
"Dell Return Policy"
* You may return your refurbished system up to 21 days from the date of invoice, with the exception of refurbished servers and storage. Refurbished servers and storage products can be returned up to 30 days from the date of invoice.
For their regular non-outlet...
I'd recommend not using an organic solvent bigger than isopropanol. Many of the anti-glare coatings will come off when mixed with solvents that have nonpolar regions.
Water is what is typically recommended. Some monitors organic solvents will work fine on, but the Dell 3007wfp-hc for...
Well, unfortunately Dell doesn't go by that system anywhere. In fact, most retailers don't. I'd be a bit careful about that assumption. Plenty of people receive things outside of the 21 days during weather and holidays. Something to watch out for...
Honoring a warranty is a legal obligation. But if you're telling me you had seemless customer support I would not believe you.
Dell used to be superb when it came to customer service - not even 2-3 years ago... but my how things have changed.
I'm on my 5th 3007wfp-HC. They do exchanges...
An advantage of the gigabyte board is in how it deals with POST failures - you can basically tell if you're stable without loading the OS and hard crashes are rare. It means you can do a hundred tweaks per hour instead of maybe 5-10. But I can only speak to the gigabyte board. Sorry about the...
I agree that this "trick" works with Dell. But its a serious serious issue they have with customer service. They're actually moving call centers back to the states because of the retention of customers who have to use their international support is supposedly very low.
What did I say that was wrong? Its been shown that the 3008 has much more latency - throughout this thread in fact. The CSR comment speaks for itself.
I didn't speak to picture quality.
Try going to this URL and playing a full white screen. I've had 3 of these monitors now, and all give a yellow band on the sides and down the middle. It is not easy to see at first.

But the 3008wfp has more inherent latency. Quite a bit more in fact. Plus you're dealing with Dell returns, instead of J&R. That alone is worth saving 1000 dollars for. If you run into a problem with your Dell you will lose hours (up to 15 hours of support calls for my current 3007)... and...
Its just a lie. I've had 3 replaced in the last 2 weeks. The main problem when dealing with Dell customer service is about 90% of the people you talk to are drones. You have to get extremely lucky to get transferred to someone who can help you. It takes me on average about 2.5 hours of...
I'm beginning to think this is the 30" to get. The dell 3007wfp-hc obviously just doesn't have the same inputs - and i've received a lot of poor quality 3007wfp-hc's. I know that the dell is supposed to have less input lag - but the backlight issues and color conformity are a nightmare...
Getting a 3007wfp-hc replacement is an absolute nightmare. Dell makes your life a living hell trying to get it to happen. If I have to replace mine again I'll probably just end up returning it and going with another brand. They're not as customer friendly as they once were.
I don't know why everyone says i7 is a bit much right now. You're really only paying more for the motherboard. The CPU at 260-270 is really not more than you'd pay for a good quad core, and the ram isn't that bad for 6 gigs at 120.
I'd also highly recommend a thermalright ultra extreme 120...
There's only one answer:
The Dell 3007wfp-HC.
Nearly all the rest are inferior in input lag. The ones that can come close to matching the input lag of the Dell have nowhere near the PQ.
Easy choice.
The thing I've come to realize is there is no perfect 30" monitor - not by a longshot. At least this one won't hurt your team in competitive FPS'ers...
I should give more info:
Intel I7 920
Gigabyte x58-extreme (its a wonderful OC'ing mobo... you can do dozens of tweaks in a matter of minutes due to the way it boots up and rePOSTs to old settings if it doesn't like them... and usually it only posts on settings that will be stable in windows...
Oh, and by "on-air" I'm using a TRUE 120 with AS5, on a gigabyte x58 extreme board.
Coolermaster 690 with lots of air flow (scythe fans), and one of those 120 mm 1900 rpm fans blowing through the TRUE 120. The TRUE 120 really benefits from a good fan (and these scythes are nice and quiet!)...
I'm able to get 3.8 GHz on an i920 on air cooling with 59 C max load.
This is a TRUE 120 with AS5 on a gigabyte x58 extreme board.
My gtx 280 on the other hand gets to 92 max furmark and 85 in crysis warhead.
I'm using ddr 1600 and i'm happy that I got it over the 1333 when it comes to overclocking. I was able to hit 3.8 GHz readily... its surprising sometimes that things like multipliers going too low can actually make you less stable. Its the only way I was able to pass 3.5 GHz.
If you're having problems with an old printer that won't load its drivers in vista, you're definitely not alone. This is something I found that works:
