Good thread. My Klipsch THX 5.1 amp died this weekend. It's been running stock all these years. Been buzzing for a few weeks. I actually have two of them, but the first died years ago and has been sitting in the box. Sent stpeteshepherd a pm, hopefully can fix them both.
Depends on your definition of suck. If you expect Zen 2 to be the second coming with 50% increase in performance, then it's going to suck. If your expectation is a more meager gain like Sandy bridge to ivy bridge then it won't suck.
Because nobody's buying the 1200 one. Nvidia admitted rtx sales have been poor. They could use chips with dead rt cores, or produce a chip without them entirely like the 1160 is.
I'd like to see Nvidia counter with a GTX 2080 and 2080ti equivalent. They've already shown they have Turing without the RTX dead weight with the 1160.
I don't buy digital copies of console games. Always physical. They can be found cheaper, and when you're done playing it in a week or so you can turn around and sell it. Wish you could still do that with PC games.
Nvidia needs several smacks upside the head for their new pricing model alone, but AMD is in no position to do it. These new parts won't challenge them. Thinking vega2 will be some miracle is too much pie in the sky. How many times must people be fooled by this? It'll be sub 1080ti/2080.
I remember many moons ago when cpus were exciting. You’d have to build a new rig every year because things were growing by leaps and bounds. Now it’s so meh. I want to build a new rig with a 9900k, not because it offers performance or any value to me over my 3 year old 6700k but simply...
Considering the 2080, and especially the 2080ti, can show CPU bottlenecks, you'd want to throw as much CPU speed as you can at it. That's where the i9 will rule the roost. An extra $200 to not cut your shiny new GPU off at the knees would be worth it. Doubly so considering how much this gen...
I don’t expect any company to be saints or even remotely have my best interest in mind. To think otherwise one would have to be insane or from another planet. Considering all companies do crappy things for a buck I tend not to think of who’s producing something when making a purchase, but look...
The initial implementation of ray tracing via RTX will be more novelty than anything else. Limited in scope and slow. It was a mistake for Nvidia to price the RTX cards so high. If they really want this to take off it needs wide adoption for developers to take notice. With the high prices...
I was all gung-ho about getting a 2080ti, couldn't wait for the release. Until I saw the lack of performance data, and then the absurd price. Then I said screw it and ordered a Kimber Camp Guard I'd been wanting for a while instead.
This probably has more to do with the ticking bond bombs that goes off in Nov and March. If Tesla's share price can't hold $560 in Nov they'll have to pay down $230 million in convertible bonds and if not $360 share price in March they have to pay down a nearly $1 billion convertible bonds...
That's a real shame. I'd not been to the theatre for years. Paying all that for a horrible theatre experience wasn't worth it. Movie pass got me to go again. Guess I'll just go back to waiting for it to hit Redbox and not deal with sticky floors, screaming babies, people with terrible BO...
