That is what was said... and what I am saying is that the 2005fpw IS wider by a significant amount. In widescreen, the screen is physically and in pixels, larger than the same ratio on a 2001fp.
If you already own a 2001fp, fantastic, then you can get close to what a 2005fpw offers without...
Except that the 2001fp screen is only 16" wide. 2005fpw is 17.2" I believe. So it is physically wider. Also, overall the 2001fp is about 192in^2, whereas the 2005fpw about 185in^2... so you lose a 7in^2 screen area but it has been stretched wider.
Then you have the debate that 1680x1050 is...
I was looking at the Apple Cinema 20" and the HP L2335, as well as the 243T... but it looks like TWO 2005FPW's will cost about the same and give me HUGE screen area! w1n!
Throw it out? Bust that shit up. You gotta go medieval on it. Maybe you can just throw it out, but you should do it like I used to throw out my garbage...
From 4 stories up with only a 1 in 5 chance of landing in the dumpster. Can you say "HULK SMASH!!!" ? :D
There's a pretty decent buzz about Dell's new 2005FPW... looks to be the same or a similiar panel to the 20" Apple Cinema. Dell has it on for only $680 right now too
Haven't seen any reviews yet, but I'm excited about it's potential. Can you say 2 x 1680x1050 = 3360x1050? :D
I wish I could say that they both have fan disconnect protection, but I'm not sure that they do. I know the 9800 Series doesn't because you can definitely put a Heatpipe cooler with no fan on there and run it fine.
My guess: Card goes Kaput within 3 seconds. SSSTTT! Poof!
Many posters are also assuming that Nvidia is being super innovative in bringing us SLI. Do not forget that they may own the 3dfx assets, but are essentially COPYING the idea just as well.
It's not so much ATi copying Nvidia, but the both of them copying 3dfx now that the technology is...
I could care less if my motherboard was hot pink with "Ultimate Gayz0r" silkscreened on it, as long as it was the fastest. Why does it matter so much what it looks like? Then again I don't really understand the window fad either.
The only useful reason I can think of for all the gaudy...
And now for something completely different!
I think that SLI is a good tool to overcome the relatively sharp drop in the performance ratio provided by the GPU production cycle vs new graphics engines.
It started with Far Cry, which performed less than perfect on 9800/5900 series cards...
Not really... basically it will just bottleneck and you'll get the lowest common denominator of performance. Better off just syncing it at the lower number.
Took the words right out of my mouth... I mean...hands. That's the board I'm waiting for. If it has the same mosfet cooling and legacy free features as the AA8... along with the ability to hit 300fsb, it could be just the ticket.
It's too bad that it won't have SLI, due to the Fatal1ty line...
You're right, the validity of ones opinion is 1 x Their post count...
I was commenting lightheartedly about how catsonar here is contradicting (nearly) everyone's general belief that SLI is the best thing since sliced bread, as well as himself, in the same thread. He doesn't get it, but that...
I made a similiar upgrade about a year ago... Joint Ops wasn't out then but I saw a very big difference going to the 9800Pro as far as framerate stability. The ol' girl is starting to show her age, but she'll be just fine for some time. Handles HL2 and Doom3 just fine if you dont need insane...
Here's one:

Not necessarily a pre-order, but some might say back-order is better... no? :D
Um... by the way... the problem you are talking about is for the NFORCE4, not the K8T890, which the AX8 is based. It's probably not a good idea to post negative things about a board if you aren't even sure what chipset it's based on. ;-)
Edit: I'm gonna go looking for some pre-orders, if I...
I like DFI a lot, simply because they don't try and bullshit customers. Unless they have a very good reason not to release information (ie Competition concerns or NDA) they will generally be very upfront with you. Some manufacturers like to have their PR play games: ie "Nforce4... I don't...
I think the problem with soundstorm could be that Nvidia licensed it for Nforce2, yet many (MANY) boards did not opt for it, yet sold very well. Nvidia being a business, and also taking pressure from the Motherboard makers for cheaper chips may have assumed that there is not enough demand for...
I believe that DFI will put out a solid board, if not for a few months. Oskar is on it, I guess ;-) Initially when the 90nm 64's came out I was rearing to go on a 939 setup. However, since an SLI board or PCI-E 6800GT's for it can't be found anywhere, the novelty has worn off for the time being...
1. 2x16 Lanes will NEVER be used by the cards out now or for some time. 8x is more than enough.
2. 2x16 Lanes would be extremely complicated to route considering you need TWICE the traces. 1x16 or 2x8 needs only 16 traces. A motherboard supporting 2x16 would need at least 8 possibly 10...
The word on the street (DFI-Street.com that is) is that DFI does NOT have a working Nforce4 board to show as of yet. This board and another one featured at Computex are both marketing mockups I believe. Here's hoping they get us some real ones soon. :D
I wait with baited breath. Of course, I have a pretty good idea where my apple is gonna drop in the pile, but nevertheless it's nice to get it from the [H]
Since some are on the topic of [H] Worship... I also believe. When I reach the end of an article, I cross myself and say: "The word of...
2GB will help you for sure, I know that UT2004 and Far Cry, and lots of new games will fill up 1GB for sure. With 2GB I wouldn't be scared to turn off memory paging either.
Yea man, and I read in numerous places that the mobiles are actually rated to sustain 100 Celcius! Eggs sunny side up please!
Before I got water, I played with my XP-M up to around 65-67C without incident. "Some like it hot." apparently. So don't sweat it.
Exactly, the entire system has been designed to work with the koolance tubing/blocks, so there is no need to throw around often useless GPH numbers. Besides, I don't know what they are nor where to find them anyways. Here's how I'd put it:
Official Exos GPH: Just Right.
:p
I think the 300 has more copper in it and perhaps better flow characteristics. I doubt they would claim 100W more if they hadnt changed anything. I remember reading a review that compared the two and the 300 was better. One other thing that should be considered is that the 300 has the nice screw...
Dual pumps are koolance spec, and their system is built to perform well with the smaller tubing and the submerged pumps. Works great, I use the Exos-Al with CPU300G
Hey all you [H]'ers! [H] has been my homepage for about 4 years now but this is the first time I've actually registered for the forums. (All those shameless forum pushes finally won me over.)
Anyways, I had a sour taste in my mouth from Intel's current stuff, but this just gives me more of a...
