Why would it have worked flawlessly for the past 3-4weeks no lockups no artifacts temps never above 50*c and then all of a sudden be practically unusable

Well i've had the card for about a month now. Its been running great but yesterday it started artifacting and locked my system up while i was surfing the net and when i try playing ut2004 it artifacts like crazy and if i am in it for like more than 15 sec it locks up. I tried to downclock alot...
