    How-to Guide for Virus/Trojan/Malware Removal

Most of the tools are still current, links might have expired though. I still use MBAM, SAS and ComboFix to clean up infected PCs. Security Essentials for free AV software. One of these days, if I ever find some spare time, I might just revise/update that post...

Screen Drawing in Win8 & VM Player

Not a problem. For some reason VMware tools never installs the right driver with Server 2008 R2 and I'm assuming the Win8 versions. I usually just go to update driver on the standard vga adapter then navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\VMware\Drivers\ and then install the wddm video driver...

    SuperMicro IPMI Issue

I have not flashed the BIOS yet. I got it up and running with UTM9 and am working from home this morning so I'm hesitant to do any flashing yet. May give that a whirl tonight after I hit the gym. :)

    SuperMicro IPMI Issue

Serves me right for using crap I've had sitting in a box for 7 years. Oh, well, would still like to get IPMI working though. Would be nice to try out different firewall/UTM distributions without having to leave the comfort of my sofa.... Will drop a note to SuperMicro tomorrow.

    SuperMicro IPMI Issue

Nah, not yet. I figured I would do that tomorrow when I'm screwing around with other stuff. On a side note. I figured out what my issue was with getting an OS installed on the damn thing. One of the old 40mm fans I installed in the case is a POS. I removed that fan and it will complete an...

    SuperMicro IPMI Issue

Hadn't gotten that far yet. Was trying to exhaust all other options before doing that. If you read SuperMicro's manuals and their downloads page they put "DON'T EVER UPGRADE THE BIOS EVER NEVER EVER" in giant red letters all over the place. I couldn't find any mention of bugs or other issues...

I know. I've setup BMC/IPMI/DRAC/iLO for dozens of servers and never had issue with it before. This one is making me pull what's left of my hair out. . . . .

    SuperMicro IPMI Issue

Yes, I have read the manual and seen the steps mentioned in SuperMicro's support forums. HOWEVER, there is no place in the BIOS that lets you actually change the channel number. Seriously.

    SuperMicro IPMI Issue

Well, I don't have anything on the system at the moment. I've been trying to get Astaro, Endian, pfSense installed on it and all of them fail half-way through. I've been using my trusty USB DVD-ROM drive for the installs so I thought maybe it was taking a crap. Seeing as how there is no IDE on...

    SuperMicro IPMI Issue

It is configured to use DHCP already. Both of the embedded NICs are plugged into the network. I have tried setting the BIOS option to static, but when I do that it doesn't give me an option to configure the IP.

    SuperMicro IPMI Issue

Anyone here use SuperMicro IPMI? I scored a slightly used X7SPE-HF motherboard/D510 combo and cannot get IPMI to work on the silly thing. It's enabled in the BIOS, all the jumpers are where they should be. This motherboard uses a shared LAN connection for IPMI, I've tried both NICs without...

We're seeing the same issue with several clients running Barracuda Web Filters. The filter blocks part of the script and causes the clients browser to consume all available RAM and then just shit the bed.

I try not to. VNX is two different systems slapped together and called "unified". Just because you have one management interface that lets you control both systems doesn't mean its unified. VNX is good and fast and everything, just not a fan of the architecture. I'd honestly rather go...

NetApp is not shit. I challenge you to find another storage system that can do everything NetApp does in one box without stringing together a series of other boxes together. Compellent has to have another box for NAS/CIFS, which they just added this year. What about deduplication? Does anyone...

Moving to new internal IP range - systems wont grab from the new range?

Is your DHCP server on the new IP range? That's probably the issue. Try configure a secondary IP on the 10.100.100.0/24 network ans make sure DHCP responds to requests on both IPs.

    NOD32 or SAV 2012 ?

The version 12.1 CLIENT is much better at detecting and blocking infections. I'm still not a fan, I remove it and replace all the time. I was just stating that it's BETTER than it used to be.
