I had a computer architecture course with Prof. Sohi, one of the professors mentioned in the lawsuit. He was probably the best professor I had.
Fuck 'em Bucky!
I'm not too informed on this topic, but I doubt that when you shock yourself that you're a small enough load that you'd max out the source.
V = IR. Twice the voltage = twice the current.
I look at it two ways. You can be right and get something better for the same money, or you can be happy because she's happy she got what she wanted. Pick one.
For what it's worth, I haven't had much luck with Intel's p965 board. It will only work with auto detecting memory speeds, which sets it at 10-15-15-31. Also changing the memory speed to anything other than 666MHz doesn't even do anything.
Do you have to use rpm sensing fans for qfan to work on Asus motherboards, or will it automatically adjust the voltage that drives the fans without any rpm sensing? The Asus manuals aren't very clear on this.
Thanks.
I replaced my klipsch 5.1 satelites with klipsh rsx-4 speakers and I'm very pleased with the results.
I don't know if the logitech speakers send a full signal to the satelite speakers. If they do, you might want to avoid getting speakers that will overlap with the subwoofer's frequency...
I'd think the X-LS speakers will be better, but they aren't really the same type of speakers. RSX-3/4's are compact satelites while the X-LS speakers are bookshelves.
Well the RSX-5's are more sensitive, so they should be easier to drive...
I didn't consider the RB-15s because they are too big for what I need, plus I don't think they are really intended for near field listening.
I bought a pair of RSX-4s, and I'm very happy with them. I doubt you really need to go for RSX-5s, unless you might be hooking them up to a reciever some time later.
They are mostly made to be used with an ipod, but you can also hook them up to your computer like normal. To me the main selling point is having their reference series RSX-3 satelites rather than the promedia satelites. I recently replaced my promedia 5.1 ultra satelites with RSX-4s, and they...
Between those I'd pick either the klipsch promedias or the altec lansings.
I'd get klipsch ifis over any of the above speakers though. You can find them at costco for $200, or refurbed straight from klipsch for that price. They have much nicer satelites and a larger subwoofer than the...
They definately are an improvement over the original speakers. The original promedia speakers seem like cheap pieces of crap in comparison. I've been listening to music that I've had for years through my new speakers, and I can now hear all kinds of details that I didn't even know existed with...
You're probably going to want to get a cheap reciever.
I'd check for refurb onkyo or hk recievers.
You could probably get a cheaper amp, but it sounds like you're going to want a reciever in the future anyways.
I have the promedia ultras with RSX-4 satelites, and they are a very large improvement over the original promedia satelites. The ifi has RSX-3 speakers, so I imagine those are also a lot better than the original promedia speakers. The ifi's will probably have better sound quality, but...
If they are the 5.1 ultras, they should be fine. If they are the non ultras, I wouldn't touch it. According to klipsch, the ultras have a very low defect rate.
Well I went with my Klipsch promedia 5.1's mostly due to their size, and the fact that they were on sale for $250. I don't have enough room for a real stereo in my dorm room, and for $250 they are better than pretty much anything else you'll find at that price.
In the case of xVA panels, a low grey to grey response time is huge. On a normal xVA panel, the grey to grey response time can be as high as 100ms, even if the typical response time is quoted as 20ms. That's why I'm so interested in the Viewsonic VP191. It seems to have the advantages of a...
Good deal then. When you get your monitor could you respond how it is for gaming?
I'm probably going to be replacing my old 1800fp soon (giving it to the parents), and I don't want something that is worse than what I already have. Gaming isn't my main concern, and I can deal with a decent...
I know, but what could make this big is the fact that this is an MVA panel, or at least the VP191 used to be, and the current specs seem in line with an MVA panel. IIRC grey to grey was the downfall of MVA panels. Hopefully we can get comparable to the response time of a 12-16ms TN LCD with...
No, I haven't seen it around yet.
Actually I'm kind of confused on this. Some sites have a 16ms VP191 which started showing up last month. Viewsonics specs still list a 16ms model. Then there's the older 25ms version that some sites still sell, now there's this one with 8ms grey to grey.
Viewsonic recently changed their VP191 monitor from 25ms to 16ms. Does anybody have any experience with this new model? I'm basically wondering how it is for gaming, and how the image is.
I'd rather have a 8bit panel and a 16ms response time than a lower response time and just a 6 bit...
I wouldn't be so sure it isn't your power supply. Mine was showing the same symptoms, so I RMAed it and it tested good. Next I got a new power supply, and it has worked fine ever since. The original power supply was an Antec True 380S, which still works fine in my old system.
