Build quality and spacious interiors which are easy to work in are the main advantages of corsair cases.
I'd like to see more built in fan controllers and led lighting.
If you are happy with the x58 platform, you might consider purchasing a cheap i7 4 or 6 core off ebay. When I sold my x58 mobo, cpu, ram a while back, the cpu was only worth about 40usd on ebay and it was a beast (even compared to modern cpus) and ran at 4-4.2ghz all day long on air with the...
I've been in the same boat and have been pondering the same question as well. Read a ton of reviews and looked at a *lot* of user reviews. My best guess has been the msi g6. Seems to be the best mix of reliability (user reviews newegg), its quiet at default but there is some overclocking...
Hey Curl
I saw a post of your system in the rig thread. I noticed you are running 2x asus r9 290 dc2. May I ask what temps you are getting on those cards and the fan speeds used? I've been testing out an asus 290x dc2 paired with an asus 290 dc2 in a phanteks enthoo luxe case (with a few...
I've got a bit of an issue with an Asus sabertooth z97 mark 2 motherboard with regards to fan control. Should it be possible to individually control seperate chassis fans via voltage?
I have an enthoo luxe case, so the majority of my case fans are connected to the fan hub, which in turn is...
I've been running Antec cases & power supplies since I first started building my own pc's. They've always been great reliable products. Started out with an Antec Sonata and Antec 350W psu to power my AMD athlon XP 1600+ system. Building a new rig as we speak and I'd like to keep the tradition...
On an Asus Z97 Sabertooth MK2 motherboard, is it possible to use ram slot 2&4 if only using 2x8gb 1600mhz memory sticks? The fan on my cpu cooler overlaps the first ram slot...
While I do agree the bezels are annoying, I run my 3x dell u2311s in the same orientation. Yes, the bezels are right in your field of view and break up the image.. That being said, using the screens in portrait mode gives you a very large vertical image (much more so than any 1 monitor could)...
Real 3d Starfighter 3d. Terrible card. This was one of the first 3d agp cards available, which I purchased to complement my PII 350mhz overclocked to 392mhz lol. The card had 8meg of frame buffer memory. System memory was used to store textures through the agp bus. Although the card was...
I'm located in Canada (montreal) but am considering purchasing an intel 4790k/Asus Sabertooth Z97 Mark II combo from microcenter in the u.s. If I were to have issues with the motherboard when I return home, will asus honor their warranty in canada (even though the motherboard was purchased in...
Anyone know if there are any known incompatabilities between the z87 chipset (namely the Asus Maximus hero motherboard) and the Intel x25-m gen 2 80gb ssd? I seem to remember reading something similar but can't seem to find the specific info atm.. tks!
Are there any known incompatabilities between the 4770k/Asus Maximus hero in conjunction with an Intel x25-m G2 80gb ssd? I seem to remember reading something about an issue, but can't seem to locate it atm.. tks!
Very nice job on the review!
One question I have though: what bios setting was used for 4k testing (quiet or uber)? Considering how much faster the 290x is compared to the titan @ 4k, it would be interesting to see what framerates the 290x could crank out if it was completely unleashed (100%...
Exactly this. This is the part of the review I would have like the reviewers to comment on (since the gigabyte board showed similar results and there was quite a bit said about the ethernet results)
I'm curious about the lan tests. The results are strikingly similar to the results you got when testing the same i217v on the gigabyte z87x-ud3h. In the gigabyte review, you mentioned how poor the benchmarks were, but did not comment on the lan tests for the Asus hero. The cpu usage was much...
Regarding the Z87-a-> The board seems to have 2x PCI express 3.0 x16 slots. Why does your diagram only show the top pci-e as 3.0? I was considering this board but would want to run sli using these slots.
Considering the pc listed in your sig, why exactly are you mounting 2x 7970s in a 5yr old case with no ventilation? Shouldn't you be mounting those in your 600T? Considering your lack of airflow, you seriously made the wrong choice in purchasing 7970s that expel hot air into the case. I'm...
93oC is WAY too hot for long term reliability. You want to shoot for 80oC max.
These 7970s with aftermarket coolers are meant to run cooler than stock (not hotter). I'm running an overclocked asus 7970 dcII and I always keep it under 70oC.
There's a few issues here.
First these coolers need...
Kyle: I've been using this card for a good 6-8 months now and did a *huge* amount of research to figure out how to tweak the voltage of this card via software. Asus kept telling me it should be possible, while the info I found online always mentioned that it was only possible to do this by...
Graphics are very similar to crysis 2 (look ok but still have that same slightly blurry look to them) The lack of physics is disappointing (no surprise there). How I miss the physics/destructible environments of the original crysis. Its crysis-consolized..
A good friend of mine had her life turned upside down by a boyfriend who was addicted to WoW. The type of player who had multiple maxed out characters and was constantly on the search for gear, etc etc. I guess you could consider him to be one of the more elite players. Well in short, it ruined...
I've owned the asus 7970 dcII for about 4 months now and have been very happy with it. The card had a bad rap when it first came out (DOA cards, etc) but the issues seem to have been ironed out. My card (as well as 2 friend's cards have worked flawlessly) When I purchased the card, it was...
This review mirrors the experience I had testing nvidia vs amd a few months back. Before the latest amd performance drivers were made available, reviews showed the gtx 670 running equal or slightly above a stock 7970. I was curious and tested this theory with the system in my sig. I tested both...
My older xfx 5870 (lifetime warranty) has gone bad and I`m getting ready to ship it back via RMA. Just wondering if anyone else has recently dealt with XFX for a similar rma and what card they received in return?
I'm not entirely sure if my experience relates to performance, but it seems plausible.
Here is my experience with overclocking my asus 7970 dc II:
Card is obviously complete stable at default 925/1375.
Overclock the point of getting artifacts in BF3.
Quit BF3 game
Down clock the card back to...
Kyle: were you able to increase the card's voltage via gpu tweak? I've been screwing around with my 7970-dc2 for over a month, trying to figure out what Asus has been telling me is possible: to tweak the voltage via gpu tweak. The solution I finally came across (without help from asus ) was to...
After a month of research, I finally found the solution to not being able to change the core voltage on my asus 7970-dc2:http://www.overclockers.com/asus-hd7970-directu-ii-top-graphics-card-review
The solution is to use ver 2.2.1.4 of gpu tweak (can be found in the comments section at the end...
