It turns out I just went into the Device Manager in the Control panel and had Windows install its own generic driver, and then the USB worked fine. Just comes to show that even Dell's "essential" drivers aren't very, well, essential.
Not sure what they mean about "Pentium M...
Has anyone who did a fresh install of Windows XP had problems installing the "Dell Notebook System Software" driver? All the other drivers worked fine but this one keeps saying it "doesn't support this operating system" when I try to install. I asked Dell tech support and they gave me the usual...
It says MSI 815E Pro (MS-6337). I used this computer a while ago and the CMOS and such were certainly in English. Must have been the evil garage spirits...
Well actually, discharging the CMOS did get rid of the password thing, but I can't find any language option. I managed to get WIndows 98 to (kinda) start, and everything there was in English. It searched for drivers for "unknown device" and then immmediately gave me the BSOD, which was in this...

The 4750 looks very promising. 17" widescreen and up to a 3400 and 2 gigs of RAM. And no lousy 4200 RPM hard drive. Wait till the 15th and take a look before buying a Ferrari.
They definitely have some impressive stuff, but at truly exborbitant prices. It's interesting that their products haven't been reviewed by many hardware sites (in English, anyway). Personally, if I had the money for such ultra high-end systems I would go with something well known like Voodoo...
I'd go for a Tungsten. My mother is a lot like your father in terms of technical expertee, and she's been using a Tungsten to organize her contacts and stuff without any real problems. (aka, less "tech support" on my part)
Nevermind. Through trial and error I figured out that the orange plug actually corresponds with the black, and the black plug corresponds with the orange.
I know it's pretty early to be asking this, but does anyone have any info about Intel's plans for Centrino (or anything, for that matter) laptops with PCI-Express graphics? After ATI and nVidia's announcements about modular graphics, everything went quiet.
