Got a sweet deal on a VFD, & need some help

I'm going to dust this thread off. Old school! I have been using this VFD (or the one I think they're talking about the BGmicro VFD) for years, but my update to Windows 7 just killed it's Winamp interactivity. Anybody know how to get in touch with either of the guys who wrote the software for...

Where to buy the rails that the Lubic cases use?

It'd be real expensive, and hard to reconfigure. It would look cool though.

Where to buy the rails that the Lubic cases use?

It's aluminum, so it's pretty soft. Get a bimetal blade for your miter saw and it will work great. Don't forget hearing protection.

Where to buy the rails that the Lubic cases use?

What you're looking for is a aluminum extrustion product widely known as 80/20. It is made by 80/20 Inc, and can be found at their ebay store along with the fasteners and accessories for it. I did a lot of work with it this summer, it's great stuff. For panelling, anything 1/4" thick will fit...

The beginnings of a bong/nuclear cooler

All good ideas come in the shower. I had the idea to dilute the pool chemicals before adminstering them to the actual system, say put 10ccs of chemical in 990ccs of water,(see note) which gives a 1% concentration, so I administer 100 times the dose, or 38.4ccs- much more managable. I just need...

The beginnings of a bong/nuclear cooler

Does anyone have any ideas for administering such small quantities of chemicals? Maybe I'll be forced to make up a large batch of it and use as needed... I don't want to use way too much chemicals, either- one drop is way too much for a 3 gallon system, which is being generous. I was thinking...

Need to get 7.5volt from a PSU, what is the best way?

Allelectronics part numbers: CAT# PS-440 (Open it up for better cooling and the amperage won't be problem, the router probably doesn't use 1A except in certain conditions) CAT# PS-1012

    Shrinking heat-shrink....

I use the barrel of my soldering iron most of the time. You can actually have the haetshrink touching the barrel without a problem, just make sure you keep it moving, as soon as it shrinks down, move to another area. It takes less than 5 seconds. A candle/lighter works in a pinch. but the ideal...

The beginnings of a bong/nuclear cooler

Softswim has been mentioned many times now, I think that if I don't go the UV route, that I'll do this stuff. Is it available in size smaller than would usually be used for a pool? Also, do I want both A and B, or just either one? C seems to be a 'bather waste' eliminator that I don't need...

The beginnings of a bong/nuclear cooler

I think I'm going to use a watering can dealie for minimal flow restriction. Maybe a homemade water deck if I get ambitious.

UV is looking viable, but expensive. Does anyone know if simply having a high flow rate will discourage bacteria? My pump is 400GPH.

A lot of interesting info there. Do you know of any more specific brands of anti-stuff-I-don't-want-in-my-system products? I'm using a copper waterblock so hopefully nothing that will corrode that.

I'm going to try hydrogen peroxide as an anti-bacterial agent at first, the article mentions soluable solids as well so if H2O2 doesn't work, I'll try that.

I cut the pipe to correct proportions and installed the fan with four 8-32 machine screws.

Progress: Chopped off the excess ABS of the tee and attached the 22.5* angle. The angle will keep water falling down the tower from exiting via the fan hole. I drilled and tapped eight 8-32 screws to keep them together. I'm going to use silicone sealant on it later.

The beginnings of a bong/nuclear cooler

After my PC was damaged by FedEx, I decided to venture into the world of water cooling. I've done a bunch of research on it in the past, but I never did it because I didn't have the extra cash around. My PC was insured for $500, so I can afford it now. I just got some 4" ABS pipe and fittings...

    Want to submerge your PC?

gllg and wolf are right- you submerge the motherboard, CPU and GPU and whatever else is directly connected to the motherboard, like sound cards. Leave the drives out of the mix. Theoretically, PSUs can be dunked as long as you keep fluid running through them- fans probably won't like to turn in...

    Want to submerge your PC?

Mineral oil is nonconductive and clear. It's long been ruled out by modders as a solution 'cause you'd have to buy lot of little bottles of it and it's fairly expensive. I recently found a local place that handles up to 6500 gallons of mineral oil at a time, and if anyone is interested I could...

Has anyone dealt with Acceptable_risk recently?

I had a long drawn out SNAFU with him recently, and it's yet to be resolved. I haven't heard from him since... June or July. He's not responding to emails or PM. Does anybody talk to him regularly? If so, please tell him to contact me.

cutting a hole in my plexi glass

Spin medium speed. Plexi first, Plexiglas(c) is a trademark of some company, and it's the same thing as acrylic. Heat can be an issue. Get a spraybottle and spray water on the hole as you're cutting. If you have access to a drill press, use it. And most importantly... post pics when done.

Well I've got it slaved onto this computer now, and it's formatting to NTFS via diskmgmt.msc, which is taking a suprisingly long time. I've had several iterations of this drive and I know that this jumper config is supposed to work.
