Ya I hate that jump jet bug. It seems to be related to dying as another class then switching to LA. To fix it you only need to logout from the game, you don't need to quit all the way out.
As for the rocket pods, they are nerfing the rocket pod splash damage a bit in a patch next week and...
Hey guys,
I've been reading these forums for a long time, but I'm pumped that I finally get to share some content with you that I created myself. I'm the author of this game.
Impulse is a music-driven game inspired by games like Rez and Geometry Wars.
You can check out some gameplay...
I used to use Opera for years, it really was the best browser in the IE / Firefox days. I think they were the first to do tabbed browsing and (working) pop-up blocking. I felt like they started losing their way though by bloating the app with embedded web servers, torrent clients, etc while...
If you need 8gb UDIMMs to get your server to 32gb, the lowest price I've found is at superbiiz: http://www.superbiiz.com/query.php?categry=727&name=DDR3-SDRAM-Server-240-Pins&pa2=8GB&pa7=NO&pa6=Yes
It's still really expensive though -- 4x4gb is about half the price of 2x8gb. I'm going to bite...
So I bit on the E3's!
I've got 2x E3-1230 systems coming, I think that will give me more than enough power for now.
BTW, Newegg has a combo deal for the E3-1230 + X9SCM-F-O for $384... I just couldn't justify passing that up.
Well, I'm just trying to get the best performance for my money. I won't be putting the disks under constant load over long durations very frequently, but when I do stress the I/O, I'll be using it pretty intensively and I'll want it to be as fast as possible. I feel like I have to do some sort...
If the price premium for one was lower or if I had a larger budget to work with I would definitely consider it, but they are simply too expensive for me to justify right now.
I'm sure they're really good, but they are also like $3k for a diskless unit which is running an i3-2120.
It just seems much more cost effective to build my own with a norco-4220 and another E3-1230 for a more powerful system.
Any ideas for the dedicated shared storage? I've looked at QNAP / Synology... they seem like decent units, but it just seems much more cost efficient to build out another system though.
I'm leaning towards building two E3-1230 systems, with one of them managing the storage for now. Then in the...
I'm trying to plan out a new build for all my home server needs -- this will be my first ESXi build. Virtualization seems to have really matured and has a ton of advantages, so I'm ready to make the jump. I have an old WHS box that has been annoying me and I want to retire it, and I also need to...
I'd stay away from VA monitors for gaming, great blacks but they have the highest response time of all the panel technologies.
From a strictly gaming point of view, what you really want is a 120hz TN display with a fast response time <= 2ms.
Unfortunately, they are all still pretty pricey...
Come to think of it, they were definitely selling the non-HD for more which is already weird, but I think they were still even selling the old Audigy SE right next to it for more. wtf?
edit: Just installed the Titanium HD, works and sounds great! :-)
I have a pair of ATH-M50's at work and ATH-AD900's for home as well, but sometimes you just don't want to wear headphones. I bought some Klipsch Promedia 2.1 speakers tonight at Best Buy for $150. Holy shit they sound good. If you have any reservations -- take it from me, whichever model you go...
Managed to get 1 for $58 at the SF BB on Harrison. It was hidden away next to the hard drives instead of with the other sound cards. Left the last one on the shelf for one of you guys. :)
Ya, can you give us any more info on where you read that, Inu? I can't find anything about a refresh of this line and I'm tempted to pull the trigger on one of these soon.
Pippin, their failed gaming / multimedia console thing.
$10,000 20th Anniversary Mac with equivalent specs as their own $2,000 machines.
Every apple mouse, ever. How do they mess this up so bad? At least they make great trackpads.
Runner-up for looking ridiculous now: Toilet seat iBook.
I really just want to see a 13" MBP with a higher screen resolution and a dedicated video card. I'd be fine if they ripped out the optical drive to make room for the GPU. The 13" MBA is halfway there with its curiously higher screen res than the 13" MBP, but I would need to go with a 15" MBP to...
Ya, this used to really bug me in college - we were forced to use getters/setters everywhere even if it was just for a blind get/set with no error checking. Now that I've been working for a couple years, I still think there are legitimate cases where raw access is fine, but generally...
I just went through the same dilemma. I wanted to finally buy my first laptop and my only requirements were that it had to be 13" and with non-intel graphics. Surprisingly that alone really narrowed down the list and, unlike the 15" macbook pro, the pricing on the 13" mbp with all the active...
Yup, same here. I ordered at ~1pm yesterday with UPS ground and it was in my hands at 10:00am today! Sucks when they randomly decide not to ship your order from CA though... :P
Well... my 2x4870's, CPU, mobo, ram, heatsink, vista dvd, artic silver 5 tube, usb extension cable, and plastic zipties came in record time and they are now sitting on my desk.
Unfortunately my new computer case and power supply were in a second package.
A second package that no one was at...
Sure, as long as you don't intend to use the crossfire part of your p45 crossfire board. ;)
Everything about the p45 looks great, but it has one big flaw - lack of full 16x/16x PCI-E support. These boards fall back to 8x/8x when you have two video cards plugged in. While the affects of this...
Hmm, I think your power supply should be fine for CF 4850's, but if you can't think of anything else, maybe just temporarily remove one card to completely rule out the possibility that your PSU is contributing to your system instability when you really start cranking up the overclockage...
+1. I will not order from bestbuy.com online again, especially for high demand items. Well, at the very least they are now at the bottom of my seller list right next to tigerdirect, etc because of this extremely lame sales tactic. I got multiple e-mails confirming my order and stating that my...
Sorry man. I fell into the same trap yesterday... I had my bestbuy order in pretty quickly after they were listed and I got an email saying that my order was confirmed and that I would be getting them in 2-3 days. Everyone was saying they were getting "backordered" emails but I didn't get one so...
I was in the same boat... couldn't find one anywhere. I just ordered one from mwave, although the listing seems kind of weird. I'm pretty sure it's an OEM Sapphire 4870. Should be fine, other than the ugly tomb raider knock-off sticker. :)

Hrmmm I ordered 2x4870's around 10am-ish PST from Bestbuy. I got four (?) emails saying thanks for the order and thankfully they all reference the same order number. I haven't gotten a "backordered" e-mail yet though. I hope this is a good sign... :P
I'm planning on upgrading pretty soon and I'm seriously considering getting a 4870 -- or two! :)
The thing is, the last time I had any experience with an ATI card was with my 9700pro and I'm really curious about support for HDTV overscan correction in the latest ATI drivers. I currently use a...
