That's funny. I thought the different forums were so discussions would go in the right place. I didn't realize you can't actually debate the merits of an Intel chip on the Intel board. Good spin or nothing I guess?
There's also a difference between attacking AMD and attacking the people...
Sure they do. If people hold off on buying AMD because they hear the Conroe is so much better, that's good for Intel. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying their claims are false at all.
You aren't seriously saying that just because an Intel employee says it's fast, it will be, are you?
The first 2 orders I placed with them went fine. The third never showed up, and after 3 or 4 phone calls and 6 emails I never got my order. Never again.
A 15% restocking fee is pretty standard, though.
We don't know that. We know it's faster clock for clock in one test. Even if it's a fairly large difference, that doesn't mean it's faster overall.
Yeah, but by exactly how much? Intel says 30%. In what?
Again, all we know is what Intel tells us. We should have a 3.33 Conroe by...
No, it doesn't. It just shows, well, that there's more heat in the loop. Could be from the block, could be from the CPU.
Good luck getting equal flow from two different rigs, by the way. :p
I don't think you grasp the concept at all, especially since you're just talking about measuring the water temperature alone.
If my CPU block does a better job at transfering heat from the CPU to the water than yours does, what good is it knowing the temperature of the water?
I'm a whatever-gets-me-the-best-performance-for-my-budget guy. Which has been AMD for far too long. I haven't had an Intel since my Celeron 300A. I wouldn't mind seeing AMD stay dominant for a while, just to bring a bit more parity to the OEM sector, but I also wouldn't mind seeing an Intel...
Cars use more antifreeze because the liquid runs at more extreme temperatures. We don't have to worry about that, so it's better to stay with as high a percentage of water as possible, since it has better thermal transfer properties than anti-freeze does.
Personally, I use pure distilled...
Note this includes software VPN connections as well. Neither Sonicwall nor Cisco VPN's work on my XP64 install. Nor does my Blackberry.
You have to format your primary partition when you install XP64 for some reason, but you can go back and install XP32 on top of XP64, provided of course...
Yeah, I loved that. Friend and I would intentionally download the crap games just to laugh at them. Then we'd get over it and play Eternal Champions for the five billionth time.
It actually worked pretty well, and wasn't horribly expensive. Made me wonder where the initial Phantom-hate...
Try both, it's not that hard to move your fans around. Most folks report better temps pulling through a rad, but it depends on the fan strength, shroud width, rad width, and rad position. Some folks get better results pushing air.
Try some other games before you start to blame your overclock. If Prime and Memtest are stable, I don't see why HL2 wouldn't be. Did you try updating video drivers and/or reinstalling HL2?
As for priority, raw CPU speed first, RAM speed and timings later.
Powder coating isn't always that expensive, there's a place here in Brooklyn that is going to charge me $45 to power coat the inside of my PC-7077B, and that's a big case.
If you're getting $200 quotes for the inside of your case keep shopping around.
And?
Internal Combustion technology moves a car faster than hybrid gas/electric technology.
Just because technology was introduced a long time ago doesn't mean it hasn't been refined.
A DFI rep at DFI-Street.com said they will not support boards that have been powered by 20 pin PSU's.
My Asus A8N-SLI is stable, never had a problem that wasn't my own fault (RAID setup mostly). It doesn't overclock very well, but it's very stable.
My Asus A8N-SLI is rock solid stable at default settings. One of the easiest and most stable setups I've ever had, actually.
I'm only replacing it because I can't stand default settings.
DFI goes to 5V, heh.
This is a relatively common problem over at amdmb.com. It's the mobo, not the chip or RAM. Asus is supposedly aware of the issue and working on it.
My Hydor L30 is on its last legs due to some negligence on my part and some buildup that apparently gunked up the impeller. I tried to clean it, but it still rattles quite a bit, and I have to whack it on the table when I power on my PC to get it to start pumping.
Anyone know a good place to...
Running a big honkin' website, maybe? ;)
DFI Lanparty boards are notorious for having issues with cold boots. I know it takes me between 3 and 10 tries to get the thing to power on after a power outage. I've tried four different BIOS's, none have helped me.
Did you try to turn it off...
If you play games at 1024*768 either card is going to be way more than you'll need, for a long time to come. That means the extra features of the 6800 are even more important, IMHO. The features may not be used yet, but if games start coming out that support the 6800 features you'll be happy...
Some games just don't support AA or AF, regardless of the control panel settings. Madden 2004 didn't support AA for awhile, FFXI still doesn't support AA as far as I know.
