Just given it a quick whirl, bloody impressive! Graphics are the best I've seen in any game ever, I'm not kidding. Lighting is spot on everywhere, especially in the paddock area which I've only just seen. It makes you remember games don't need bullshit like ray tracing and DLSS5, good artists...
...and then a year later they released their MOTHERBOARD chipset, the nforce2, which nailed it across the board, made VIA look stupid, and remains, still, the best onboard sound hardware ever made for a mainstream motherboard:

Make Nvidia...
The root cause of all of this, actually, is memory pricing. And the blatant false scarcity made up by the dram makers who are holding the entire world to mercy. Almost literally.
If memory wasn't scarce, everyone could just simply make more graphics cards. AMD could, and would, just under cut...
That has got to be his lamest video yet. 15 minute explainer where he explains literally nothing about what any of the options do, merely that they're there, and you can change them. He doesn't even complete any comparison testing. Total muppet.
Totally in same boat as OP. Started out with family Intel 286 DX2 (66mhz!) - then consoles, NES, etc. through to N64 (last console I've ever owned), then first gaming PC (PentiumII 300mhz, Matrox PowerVR m3D - I still own these, so cute :))
But I think we've just out-grown mainstream gaming...
That's a real shame. I love HL2, but Ravenholm is the definite low point. Feels so out of place and is just annoying to work through. Really feels like work. And to top it off that Preacher guy is just outright annoying. Is there anyone who doesn't find that guy just really f*cking annoying...
Awesome! Take my money!!
Would have been nice if they included Hitman Blood Money, hands down the best in the entire series and last 'true' hitman game (no Jesper Kyd score, that aint Hitman).
I guess they can do a DLSS 4.5 update for Blood Money separately, THAT would be super sweet.
Can't help but fear they have SERIOUSLY shot themselves in the foot by making it a prequel.
Think of all the events that have happened in GW2 and so necessarily CAN'T happen in GW3, else it won't make any sense.
All the Dragons, all the new races discovered, all the key game lore that has...
Looks to me like one of those gold caps exploded, the size is smaller than the area circled, which seems to show another cap that's still ok, albeit got some debris on the top side.
You can probably just ignore it. I've popped off those lil caps of many cards over the years and noticed no problems.
This is how it's meant to be played though right? :p
I've never raced seriously in Forza 5, just do whatever it takes to get ahead, and if the AI is blatantly going to rubberband, then killing them isn't optional, it's necessary.
Anyway, so far I've played one long opening session a few days...
I think we need to remind ourselves that the real reason for the high GPU prices in recent years is mostly down to lack of competition.
Nvidia are now competing with themselves, a 6090 would have no competition beside a 5090, so they'll price it accordingly, $2,500 at the very least. And a 6080...
Just tried the demo, there's an option near the bottom of the graphics section called simething like Lens affect, click once left to remove chromatic aberration but leave the rest of the effect on, or turn it off, but I noticed weird arfticats on windows with it off.
On another note, are you PC...
I had an ATI X800XL, shittiest card I ever got, wouldn't overclock for shit and as a result was barely any faster than my previous 9800Pro watercooled. Even soldered volt modding did nothing. Silicon was just at a solid wall.
CPU wise, gotta be haswell 4770K. barely managed 4.7ghz and as such...
Lol, know exactly what you mean. I'm planning on getting one on day 1, find and disable the weakest CCD, disable SMT, then overvolt and overclock the shit out of it. I'm hoping under this config 6ghz is possible under water. Then I realised I'll have the hassle of taking off the waterblock etc...
Back then, playing the game was its own reward. Nowadays people need, and expect, character progress and unlocks, and we've become so used to it that going back and playing any old game with no progress feels like time badly spent.
It's difficult to have any progress in arena shooters where the...
I get that. I enjoyed it though, but it's slow paced for sure. I think it entirely depends on how you like the sardonic humour, particularly waking up after a massive binge session permanently not remembering your own name, and your first mission is to find your missing shoe. I foudn the...
Worst overclock mem corruption story for me was losing an entire year's worth of Forza Horizon 5 progress. Literally just days after me fully completing the map, everything unlocked, all signs smashed, everything, then a shoddy mem overclock corrupted my local save file, which then got uploaded...
From my experience you need at least 90fps to make 2x still feel comfortable, and either v-sync off or a 240hz + monitor with vsync/gsync. And it's a god send for CPU limited games.
I play almost exclusively Guild Wars 2 which is massively CPU limited. In some big fights no one is getting over...
I went from very well tuned 14900K to 9800X3D and it was a blatant upgrade in every way.
For one thing, Hyperthreading actually improves gaming performance. The fact Arrow lake has it essentially 'disabled' tells you everything you need to know. Intel did like a stupid kid and dropped the ball...
The 680 marked the first time nvidia openly took the piss and released a half-fat offering as top end. I remember it distinctly, as my watercooled ichill 580 @ 1050mhz was easily faster than the 680 I mugly bought.
Oh look though, she's back! And in stock...
There are plenty of examples in the past of same archicture getting rebranded. Off the top of my head:
480 -> 580, same Fermi arch, refined silicon. And Kepler spanned from 680 - 780. There are plenty more I'm sure, although it's seems to be true in recent times nvidia brands as one would...
GeForce RTX 5090 and 5080 Founders Edition dissappear from NVIDIA store
Why is no one talking about this? 🤔
I've been morbidly monitoring the UK nvidia store for 5080 and 5090 FE cards over the last few months having bought a Zotac 5090 OC back in May. Both were listed out of stock at that...
I couldn't get my old copy to run! Seems one file has become corrupted. The installer refuses to launch these days.
You couldn't possibly send over a copy of "FR.RAS" from the root directory could you please?
That's precisely why I hate on the 5080 so much! It was instantly only the 3rd fastest card available, 2nd to a much better option that was no longer being sold. Given how scarce the 5090 supply was, I expect most potential 4090 buyers got a 5080 instead and not a 5090 as was clearly nvidia's...
The 5080 was a total shitty offering from the getgo, anyone who bought an expensive AIB model was completely mugged.
It will go down as the shittiest xx80 offering nvidia has ever shat out. Only the Geforce 4mx makes it look good! (Remember that lol  )
Not had any proper problems in all these years. Honestly, I'm truly struggling to think of anything, but this is largely due to me not really playing all the latest games all the time, and not buying new hardware on day 1.
Can someone jog my mind with anything? 🤔
The only problem I had...
That's a very interesting question, although I suspect in most cases the fans etc. are on a separate 'rail' so to speak and are in addition to whatever the GPU side draws. I mean it would effectively be like if they were connected directly to the power slot pins.
Christ it's even uglier than I first thought! And those shitty middle bits are clearly just compressed titanium shards, the metal equivalent of chipboard.
Whoever thought this up thinking it in any shape or form looks good is a pure psycho. I mean, it's hard to think how you could make it...
It looks like they taken bits of scrap titanium shards, cut and folded them up and stuck on the fan shroud, finished off with cheap glitter gold paint.
Well, I finally caved and managed to grab a Zotac 5090 for what I consider a reasonable £2150. Gave up waiting for the FE to come available, and was going off it anyway due to reportedly higher noise and temperatures.
But damn, literally more than double the performance! 😍
Now THAT is a...
