Bingo -- a new version of LogMeIn was released that solves the issue.
Now I feel silly for posting all of this. Thanks for the prompt to check Device Manager again. All is well!
Well, crap. I had uninstalled LogMeIn a little bit ago, thinking that that was the only thing that would have a mirror display function -- but even after that the "LogMeIn Mirror Driver" was still in there. I didn't notice it before because I was looking at running processes and services, not...
I have Windows 7 Ultimate x64. Last night my system was updated with:
KB2506928 -- html link fix for Outlook
KB982018 -- Advanced format disk compatibility update
KB976932 -- Windows 7 Service Pack 1 for x64
KB2492386 -- Application compability update
KB2522422 -- IE 9 Canon printing...
Alright, sorry. Thought you were directing that to me, and those kinds of comments just tick me off.
I beg to differ with you, though, on your use of the word "few." I'm reading the hundreds of reviews of this thing (and not only that one, of most other HSFs too), and it sure doesn't look...
That monstrosity fits into that microATX case?
OK, it might work, but here's what I never like about stuff like this:
* Installation is a pain in the butt (a "torment," one reviewer called it). I hate these HSFs that make you feel like you're going to break something in order to just get...
That's what I was afraid of, E4g1e. Couldn't find the right balance of small size / quiet / low profile / won't block other stuff / actually cools the CPU enough. Nothing seemed to fit all the criteria. Oh well.
One more question: Judging by some of the reviews of the Phenom Black, the stock cooler is loud. What would be the best, EASY TO INSTALL aftermarket HSF for this CPU? It just needs be nothing special, no overclocking will be done, but it does need to be quiet.
Hey, THANKS, guys.
Danny, your suggestions look great. I have to admit that I have never really priced budget items before (I buy higher-end stuff for myself), and I put together my initial list on a lunch break without my usual level of research. I guess in retrospect I shouldn't have been...
I'm looking to build a reasonably powerful PC for a family member who primarily does web browsing, some light photo and video editing, some casual gaming, some music stuff like Guitar Tracks Pro, and office productivity apps. I'm trying to keep it under $700.
How does this config look...
I don't know if this is just my system, but I tried the Windows 7 system image feature to create a backup of my C: drive (which is actually a RAID 0 array) onto my non-RAID D: drive, and it failed. Says some stupid error like "can't find the file." (Huh? what file?)
Anyone else try this...
Well at least it's good to know that the problem is happening to others. (I'm not happy that others are having the problem, just happy knowing it's not something weird with my system only.)
You would think that something named Release Candidate, after going through multiple beta builds, would...
Well, I decided to install Intel Matrix Storage Manager, despite the warnings about not being able to uninstall the drivers once I install it. It's working OK but the second drive in my RAID 0 array is coming up with ECC errors.
Of course it would then be nice if they actually told you what...
So I've been going along my merry way, installing software on my new Win7 RC computer. Before any significant app, I've been manually creating system restore points, and it always says "restore point created successfully." But now I try to go back and restore my system to a previous point, and...
I have an EVGA X58 motherboard and have two WD Caviar Blacks set up in RAID 0 as my boot drive, running Windows 7 RC. They're connected to the Intel 1CH10R RAID controller.
So I'm booting up and getting "An Error Occurred(0)" on one of the drives on the bootup status screen. Man, I just...
Maybe it's just me, but every time I see a reference to UAC I flash back to Doom...:D
I come from having never used Vista -- I'm stepping up from XP -- so I probably have no business in this thread other than to say that I *love* Windows 7. For what it's worth, I think that this is the most...
OK, I got it to go farther by going into msconfig and doing a selective startup, unchecking "load startup items" and then going to the Services tab and checking "Hide all Microsoft services" and hitting Disable All.
But still no success. Even though it got farther, it finally said the same...
Well, damn...it's not working. It gets around 28% through the "installing files" step, then says "Windows could not prepare the system to boot into the next phase of installation."
I just love error messages that say stuff like that, leaving it up to you to find the answer to the question...
I plan to do a reformat when Windows 7 Retail comes out, but for now would like to simply extend my license by upgrading from 7048.
Anybody done that successfully? Upgrading from 7048 to the RC?
Before you say, "Suck it up and rebuild; you should NEVER upgrade an OS" -- yeah, I know all...
^bump^
OK, it looks like my choices are either (a) wait for Canon to make a 64-bit Win7 driver for the 8000F scanner, which is not very likely, or (b) get a new scanner such as the 8800F.
The 8800F has 64-bit Vista drivers. Has anyone gotten a Canon scanner to work with Win7 x64...
I was wondering about that. Never really knew if one version could coexist with the other, as I seem to remember getting borked in the past by a few games that actually downgraded my DX version (usually without asking).
Thanks, I'll give it a go.
So my new EVGA mobo came with a free COD cd. I installed it on my new Win7 x64 rig and skipped the part where it wanted to install DX9 because Win7 already has DX11.
COD does not approve. It won't run the game because it can't find some DX9 dll.
I don't want to downgrade my DX version...
Just wondered if anyone has an older Canon scanner (mine's an 8000F) and gotten it to work with a 64-bit OS?
Canon stupidly makes 64-bit drivers for newer versions like the 8600 but not the 8000. I know it's a long shot, but I wonder if anyone has found a driver, maybe even for some other...
I have a Core i7 setup and overall, while IE8 is acceptable, it isn't nearly as fast as Firefox and especially Minefield.
Microsoft's testing doesn't prove much. The way to test browser performance, and browser performance only, would be to remove as many other variables as possible. The...
Right. It's not more realistic when the "actual top website rendering testing" is completely skewed toward making IE look good, and nothing else. Like I said, their so-called testing methodology is a joke.
Might want to check out Win-Get from Sourceforge.net:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=157786
I have never used it so don't know if it's any good. But it might work for you, and it's free.
It's not a macro recorder nor does it monitor software changes. It's a...
Microsoft is so lame sometimes.
I just signed up for a TechNet Plus subscription (used promo code TMSAM08) and they sent me an e-mail saying click here on this link to get your "Benefit Access Number" so you can sign in. Well, I click on that link and it gives me a page that shows my order...
