With drivers coming out every week it seems to confirm major driver issues. Hopefully after my video card comes back from RMA they will have fixed these crap problems.
Wow hypocrite much? A LOT of people are having issues with 8800 drivers in Vista and XP. Me included.
Just because you aren't experiencing it, doesn't mean problems don't exist
Yup same reasons. I don't like the idea of having to spend $300+ on RAM to get a good OC. Plus I'm a gamer so the CPU doesn't make a whole lot of difference at the end of the day.
Just picked up a CM Stacker 830. Absolutely love it... My first experience with a motherboard tray case and it's absolutely awesome. Tons of room in the case, air flow all over the case (top, bottom.... basically every side has openings.
That being said, the side panels are slightly...
Hmmm that's what I'm looking for (black, no-LED). I was also looking at the Enermax Liberty. I might just try the one from work out. If I get any problems I'll just bring it back and pick up a quality one (I've always had Antecs personally)
This is what I've ordered:
Case - Cooler Master CM Stacker 830
Power Supply - Coolmax 600W 120mm SLI (which I get for cheap from work... that's why I went with this one)
CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo E4300
Heat Sink - Cooler Master GeminII (mated with Arctic Cooling 120mms; the light ones)
Memory -...
I run the 2707 to my 360 as well (over the VGA connection). If both inputs are active, there is 0.5-1 second delay between swapping inputs. If I turn off the 360, it will deactivate the input signal... which causes the monitor to go into power save. I would personally prefer it to switch to...
I thought the internals are SCSI? ie, the bearings, motor, and platters (hence the 36 and 74GB caps)? Another reason for the 5 yr warranty too...
I can see the logic board being PATA with just a SATA bridge though...
IMO...
I run a RAID 0 with 2 x Raptors 36GB. Personally, I think for most users, the best benefit would just be a single FAST drive (ie 74GB raptor, new large cap NCQ drives). But for me, 2 highly reliable drives, with no data that I am worried about losing, I think it's worth it. It's...
Are you sure you want to spend $250 on a hot swap enclosure? You are not going to be pulling drives out on a daily basis in a RAID 5 (hopefully not even on a monthly :) )
As for the 8 x 300 thing... maybe you want to run 7 in a RAID 5 with 1 as a hot spare. This would let you achieve a...
First thing, determine what UDMA mode the thing is in... go into device manager and check under the IDE ATA controllers. Should be in UDMA mode 5 (ATA100). I'd also replace the IDE cable with a known good 40 connector, 80 wire cable.
Edit: Just checked your picture... why is your Maxtor...
At work, I've noticed that the newer Seagate drives (7200.8s with NCQ) are faster than my Raptor 36GBs in single mode :( (But I run a RAID 0)
The 74GB raptor will be much faster though
You may have to write a signature for it. Right click on My Computer -> Manage. Go to Disk Management and see if there is a disk there with a red sign on it. Right click that and write signature. At that point you should be able to see it.
I had both cards (x800 xl and currently x850-xt) The X850-XT is a smaller card physically, but it is a 2 slot as you've stated. Keep the physical size in mind with the Shuttle. Both are very quiet... I had the oppurtunity to upgrade to the XT for 50 bucks CDN so I took it... worth it for the...
Hrmm I had installed a VGA Cooler Rev 3 and some aluminum ram sinks on my old 9800 Pro... can't remember exactly but I got something like 60-70MHz on the core and 40-50HMz on the memory.
I wouldn't worry about it... I've got one (at gfs place, can't remember my clock) but it wasn't all that much over stock. I also think that there would be no benefit of getting an Artic Cooler vs the stock one. Although you MIGHT get a benefit of replacing/reapplying the thermal interface.
I'm looking for a diagram or pin specs so I can identify what pin on the ATA100 interface is the one that is 'cut'. My boss is testing me so I need to be able to just look at an IDE connector and know right away the correct orientation and pin alignment.
