Hopefully Nvidia gimps crypto mining with the 4xxx series enough to make the cards unattractive to miners and creates a proper ordering queue to allow people to pickup these cards at MSRP and before the decade is out. Based on the latest promo-leaks, a low end 4xxx should be able to rival 3080...

5xx.xx series drivers working fine with Uptab DP to HDMI2.1 adapter. 4K @120Hz, Full RGB/4:4:4 chroma, 10-bit or forced 12-bit color, vanilla HDR, auto HDR in Win11 and MPC-BE, etc. Only thing missing still is VRR and I havent missed it in a while.

It's the UpTab DP 1.4 to HDMI 2.1 active adapter... no messing with CRU needed (although I messed with it after the fact anyway just for s&g). And didn't even need the latest 1.5 firmware they recently posted on their website (which I also subsequently applied and still have good signal and...

The DP1.4 to HDMI 2.1a adapters have come a long way from where they were a year plus ago. I recently picked up the alternative to Club3D (which I used and returned a year or more ago) and my aging RTX2060S now perfectly outputs 4K RGB VESA at 10/12bit and 120Hz with 10bit Temporal Dithering...

Firmware ver.03.23.35 is out (dated Sep-1st). Appears to be the final firmware for the 2020 CX series boxes. 'We are sharing the final S/W of LG OLED AI released as a new model in 2020.' Changelog as useful as ever: 'Improvement of minor issues related to software (03.23.35)' Thx LG, much wow.

3.23.25 out for a week or so now on KR site and now on the US and CAN sites as of yesterday. Generic useless release note - bug fixes and improvements as usual. But hey, new build and new build date. No way to turn off annoying notifications and HDR/SDR mode switching screen blinking intact...

Looks like a new non-engineering test/alpha CX series firmware was pushed out in Korea at the end of June - 03.23.10 and then as the next post mentions - 03.23.15 a few days ago (mid July). No info on what's changed or been updated since 03.23.06 or 03.23.10.

Firmware 03.23.06 is out (dated 02-Jun-2021) with a tons of new privacy policies and other legalize to accept on reboot. And of course the change log reads: [03.23.06] Software update contains minor bug fixes. Yawn.

Version 03.21.21 is out for the CX series boxes. Released a few days ago (dated 24-May-21) and available on the US site and perhaps beyond (CA, UK, etc). KR site still stuck on old Feb/Mar dark ages build - guess they moved on to focus on CXI aka C1 series. Change-log shows the generic...

Yup the original Ori and the sequel games are fairly old news, but indeed a decent showcase in HDR on any C9/CX and RTX2x/3x series card. Metroidvania or the art style/story might not be for everyone, but thats for them to decide.

'New' firmware out on the Korean LG site... last few months, they are releasing these mid-month each month - like clockwork. Oddly enough the build number is the same as previously. 03.21.16 but timestamped Feb-17th 2021 (Korean time).

You are not looking deep enough. There are a few guides on how and where floating around with screenshots etc. Reddit I believe. Once you find it, note there are a few places not just one, and a few resolution x refresh rate combos to delete.

    LG 48CX

Yeah its 'old' news as it came out yesterday and possibly earlier via engineering mode. The Korean mothership site only mentions some vague image improvements in the change log. Far more info on 3.21.09. At least I dont see .16 breaking anything on my US-spec CX48 and CX65.

Its now also out on the Korean support site... so out of engineering ring. Available for download.

    LG 48CX

Exactly right - no such issues here on either the CX48 or CX65 since installing the latest firmware back on Dec-17th/18th. The latest Nvidia hotfix driver mentioned above has worked well in SDR/HDR and Dolby Vision modes with an RTX2xx and RTX3xx series to keep the HDR black level botch at bay.

If I'm not mistaken, there is no Games/Apps specific toggle and neithet will switch HDR on/off for you on the fly (except HDR aware media players when they detect SDR vs HDR content). For Games - you either toggle Win 10s HDR to on before you launch a game and then if it has HDR support it...

Buut but its old codebase, maintenance mode software solution. The guide might have been useful for noobs 5+ years ago - not so much now. Just sends them down a legacy rabbit hole. MPC-BE x64 (latest stable or beta build) and MPC Video Rendered x64 v0.51 and done. Codec packs, additional...

I used to configure MadVR and LAV filters deep and had a setup I would backup and bring over as needed. Complete overkill. No need anymore, since the newer solutions out there do just as good if not better job up/downscaling (including chroma upscaling) with far less processing overhead - even...

    LG 48CX

K-lite Codec Pack, MadVR and MPC-HC had their place in software history but are all long in the tooth as we kick off the third decade of the century. It's lame how with all the processing power riddled across modern CPUs, GPUs, xPUs - so very little has been done in the 'simple' video...

Media Player Classic is still good but depricated and no longer being developed... few years now. VLC was great 15+ years ago. For a screen such as these recent LG OLEDs and a Win10 machine with a HDMI 2.0b or 2.1 GPU with some x264/265/266 encoded HDR content... go directly to MPC-BE plus mpc...

All relative, hence the legalise CYA disclaimers seen at startup in many games. YMWV. Most on here have moved on from @60Hz use of these screens. Linear 1080p or 4K tv signal duty with it turned on seems to work just fine. If it bothers you, turn it off and done.

Yes, fun on first play-through to some degree. And as great as the effort that went in to coding these up - Cemu, Dolphin, etc. and rendering WiiU/Wii titles at 4K/8K, with Vulkan and async compute, reshade mods is fairly old news. Cemu Patreon builds were all the rage when BoTW first relesed a...

Yes, GXs take the same firmwares. Pull up the US, Canada or Korea support sites, pull up the firmwares for the CXs to see all supported series (take models with a grain of salt given the regional labeling and confirmed wider update footprint).
