For Nvidia I am a big fan of Nvidia Inspector to fine-tune a nice undervolt + OC. found this a lot faster to find my GPU's sweet spot for performance and temps than MSI Afterburner's curve editor, but it is still good. Here is what my curve edit looks like for reference:
I manually found the...
What are your voltages in HWiNFO?
You can undervolt the 5800X3D no problem. I am using PBO2 Tuner to do a -20 mV all core undervolt on login. Really helps lower temps. -30 mV is max offset for this software.
Post for latest version of CurveOptimizer with Task Scheduler support...
I find this opposite for me. I specifially game on my 4k60 monitor because I am so CPU limited I cannot go past 60. If I can, I use the 1440p144hz panel instead.
I loved Mafia 1. While I didn't like the story in M2, the incredible graphics and optimization made it an excellent PC game. It ran so well on my GTX 650.
Mafia 1 was all about the story for me. Once you beat the story you unlock a strange free roam mode with challenges. Free roam was something...
I disagree with the statement that 144hz is enough. I want to find that out for myself. My buddy has a 240hz and I have a 180hz. Side by side, the 240hz feels better.
144hz is a noticable downgrade. I don't feel like 144hz is bad though. I recommend it since it is so cheap in USA. $1 a hz is...
I had a bent pin on my Z97. Was missing a channel of DDR3. Had to take a DSLR and really zoom in to find it, since the bend was so small.
LTT thumbnails are so clickbaity. Feels gross.
I got a 1080 ti FE for a crazy bargain. It ran fine but was at 90c at load. Just needed new paste.
The cooler sucks. At 4k60 in RDR2 it is by far the loudest GPU I have owned since a GT 6800 EVGA blower I had.
It is able to stay below 80c at 2ghz at 100% fan speed though. I really want to...
I find it amazing that the Epic Game Store still lacks a setting to throttle the download speed when downloading a game.
Without that feature, downloading a game is very annoying.
When Asus released their 240hz, I got their 180hz last gen model for a great deal. Hoping the same happens again. 240hz to 280hz is gonna be interesting to see in person. Not sure if I can tell.
I did get to compare my 180hz to my friend's 240hz side by side and it was quite noticeable.
I do...
There's already Xbox One X games rendering at native 4k60. New Xbox (and PS5) will be probably go back down to 30fps at 4k for some really demanding games, but I am 100% confident the next Forza and Gran Turismo will do native 4k60 no problem.
Steam backs up every version of a game on their servers. Using the Steam Console, you can force a game back to a specific version; even if the version you want isn't listed. This allows modding a game like GTA V to be very easy. If I just own RDR2 on the Rockstar Launcher, I am going to need a...
Like online? Cause the only reason I play Rockstar games is for the SP mods. And FiveM has also come quite a long way.
The launcher did temporarily disable offline mode, and it did update GTA V breaking the mods.
Thankfully Steam allows users to download any version of the game they want via...
Never buy a blower. Even a 1060 blower is hot and loud.
Any GPU can be cool and quiet with the right cooler. We know the 5700 is gonna get aftermarket cooling.
Apple still does not allow the 15" to switch to the iGPU on Windows without some hackery. This results in deplorable battery life compared to MacOS.
I have to reboot my Macbook to use the iGPU for Windows and vice versa...
Other than that it's pretty darn good for Windows.
For gaming, it...
I got an older Macbook for precisely this reason. I was sick of maintaining my hackintosh laptop and the 2012 Macbook Pro non retina is easily repairable.
Then Apple put it to the pasture and now they are a nightmare to repair. Your statement has been correct for over 7 years now.
The older...
My i7 4c8t is at 100% CPU usage across all cores at 4k60 on Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Looking straight up into the sky puts my GPU usage down considerably but my CPU can only eek out around 70 fps. Lowering resolution does nothing in that regard.
I'd much rather have the 1700 in that game. But...
Depends on what you play though. I moved to 4k in 2013 on an R9 290 and was still CPU limited. I am definitely ready for 4k144 for the older games I play. Sure, there are many games that I have to lower settings to maintain 60fps at 4k. I think the bigger deal with 4k144 is waiting for HDMI...
This could be useful but I fear Google will kill it off like they usually do. :P
I wouldn't mind this to send messages easier since MMS with 1 bar of service is not fun.
win shift s is good for screenshots. but i think taking a photo of the display is probably the best way to go in this use case.
I was curious to see how your intel integrated graphics compared as well.
iirc, Vsync enabled in NCVP + Gsync enabled does not act like Vsync; as long as vsync is disabled in game. As long as it is set up like that, Gsync will not add measurable input lag.

I was also on...
Fantastic deal. I told a buddy about one since he lives so close to MC. I spent $180 on my 1tb NVME drive over Black Friday. Since my PC is so old (Z97) I cannot get the full speed.
First SSD I bought was for a SATA II laptop, so I am usually behind.
The performance boost from going from...
I've had some mini displayport issues in the past. I cannot get my GTX 650 or 1070m to work above 120hz on 2 different high refresh rate displays. My desktop cards work fine. I always assumed miniDP has some weird issue going on.
But MiniDP can drive the same amount of bandwidth full size DP...
That laptop will not be good for gaming. Its CPU is going to be a big problem in many games. Crossfire solutions are not aging well either. I guess it all depends on what games you plan on playing as well.
Try turning on Gsync Indicator in NVCP. I had issues with Elite Dangerous and Gsync not working correctly in Borderless; especially when I had a 2nd monitor connected.
I had to reboot, disconnect 2nd monitor, and launch the game to fix that.
The game in question had a bunch of windowed mode...
MS is adding native mouse and keyboard support to some of their newer unreleased titles. This is getting a lot of my console friends upset.
But I do feel the next Xbox will feel a lot more PC like.
Fantastic video. This hits hard as my favorite game falls in this category. Rainbow 6 Siege. Gotta be online to play, good content is often limited and never returns (Outbreak, Pick & Ban). I have zero control. If the servers go down, its over. Some EA games I owned essentially survived 5 years...
I went for the Sapphire Tri X R9 290. Quietest GPU I have owned. It got retired back in 2016, but it is still being used today in a 2nd PC powering a 4k freesync monitor.
I got the R9 290 for early 4k gaming, primarily ARMA 2 and other older CPU heavy games. In newer games it is crushed at 4k...
