DAN C4-SFX: The smallest water cooling case in the world

I originally pointed to the problem with 2-2½ PCI slots, primarily because of RTX cards. But outright 3 slots might be too much actually. I really like the original idea of the C4: An A4 with 24cm AIO support, pcb PCI extension and a slim small frame. With the classic layout, the case gets too...

DAN C4-SFX: The smallest water cooling case in the world

I'm ok either way. Although I do like the current version. The hard riser just seems like a more sturdy design, a bit simpler too which will help with cable management. I will have my PC on the right with the AIO on top, so I might just scrap the power extension cord and plug straight into the...

DAN C4-SFX: The smallest water cooling case in the world

I have no real interest in skyscraper type cases. But it could be a third case in the series: A4, C4 and S4? As for external radiators; Lian Li tried. It did not go well: Your method differs though, but it still makes it look very industrial, thus clashing with the sleek minimalistic look...

DAN C4-SFX: The smallest water cooling case in the world

Side screws are not that bad. Especially not on the glass side panel. Maybe use torx for better look? I will use a 24 cm CLC, but the option to use 2x12cm should remain for greater support. USB-C. The front panel header might not be that common on ITX motherboards right now, but it will in the...

DAN C4-SFX: The smallest water cooling case in the world

Indeed. But remember the glass will suffocate any fan that's close to it. So if you use the 2½ slot spacer that comes with the window) and the window, you still only have room for a 2 slot card, if you want proper ventilation. This should be seen as less of a critique of the case, and more on...

DAN C4-SFX: The smallest water cooling case in the world

Hmm, it looks like a lot of the new NVidia RTX series will be 2½-3 PCI slot cards. All non blower Vega 64 cards are 2½-3 slots too. I'm worried this case will have problems with high end cards in general. Especially with the glass side, even with the 2½ slot pci pcb extension. Anyone else a...

DAN C4-SFX: The smallest water cooling case in the world

I read Dan will get back to it next week. There is one thing I'm thinking: I'm going to have the case oriented as shown above. With the GPU showing on the left side. There are two things I would like to do in that setup: Have the radiator screwed right into the chassis, with the fans above...

Congratz on your very own ITX human, Dan. I hope the sleep isn't too bad

DAN C4-SFX: The smallest water cooling case in the world

Yeah. I won't make a judgement until the final product is up. I really want a sweet small CLC based computer. Right now the C4 is the best option. However: Afaik it's where the top and bottom panels wrap around the frame on the sides that gets scratched. I don't care about that. You won't see...

DAN C4-SFX: The smallest water cooling case in the world

Indeed. And I have the Lian Li v700 unibody case now. At least it's ATX, but still not very practical. When going to ITX, everything just gets a lot harder. Unibodies are cheaper to make and simpler. So I understand why Don want to do it. Risk management is important. And the idea in the...

DAN C4-SFX: The smallest water cooling case in the world

Problem is that we are mostly waiting for news and updates. Dondan has mentioned some issues, but has still to post any pictures or detailed explanation of the problems. That makes them difficult to discuss. If we go by your animations, it seems that the frame is scratched where the top and...

DAN C4-SFX: The smallest water cooling case in the world

Oh, wow. The Lian Li unibody design was used on the V1000 back in 2004. The design next year will be 15 years old: http://www.dansdata.com/pcv1000.htm

DAN C4-SFX: The smallest water cooling case in the world

So basically the C4 is now going to look identical to my 6 year old Lian Li v700? Why? Who cares if the inner painted bode can get a little scratched. My Lian Li v700 have scratches around all the rivets. At least you can repaint/fix painted aluminium. It's the anodized parts that are...

DAN C4-SFX: The smallest water cooling case in the world

Indeed. I don't like the path he's heading with this project. Unibody is starting to look really dated. Even Lian Li is moving away from it. If he's concerned about scratched internals, how about how having the panels assembled in the box? You have to dismantle everything for the build anyways...

DAN C4-SFX: The smallest water cooling case in the world

Afaik you should be able to buy a dust filter specifically made for this case. That should be installed in the gaping hole. That is my plan anyways, although I would like a sturdy one, as picking up the case could make your fingers go through it.

DAN C4-SFX: The smallest water cooling case in the world

Wow that silver version looks absolute amazing. To the point where I might even consider buying one. Will you sell outer panel kits separate like NCase? This is how I want to layout my computer. I can see the great big hole in the bottom for air to come in. Will we be able to buy a filter kit...

DAN C4-SFX: The smallest water cooling case in the world

Not having USB C for a late 18, early 19 case is not good. Especially not in the high end market. When the case has side IO, can't you just have the USB C below the jack connectors, and the normal USB A above them? That shoud clear the SSD drive just fine. And afaik you can always turn the...

DAN C4-SFX: The smallest water cooling case in the world

This would be my dream case. I am a little worried about 2mm thickness. Would be it possible to buy extra, if they break?

DAN C4-SFX: The smallest water cooling case in the world

The metal strip is super thin. No more than 1mm I'd guess. The glass itself is thick, but also quite large. With a smaller piece, you could keep it at a solid 3mm, but 4 is also fine. The window kit really just needs to be 1 side on the GPU side. No reason to have a glass panel on the backside...

DAN C4-SFX: The smallest water cooling case in the world

Oh, btw. Have you seen the new side panel "hooks" that Lian Li has made? You won't need any holes in glass panels with them, as they are glued: That is a steel case, but it 130$ with 2 glass panels.

DAN C4-SFX: The smallest water cooling case in the world

The setup I'm thinking of would consist of a 24cm CLC for the CPU. 2 fans on it that are somewhat airflow focused, to provide lots of air in the case. I plan on turning the case around as I want a window and use it on my right side, placing the CLC on top. As for the GPU, I'm hoping to get a 2-3...

DAN C4-SFX: The smallest water cooling case in the world

I have the Lian Li v700 case, which was one of the first (of not the first) Lian Li case to use the unibody design. It looks great, but kinda feels dated now. The plastic clips are not good enough to hold up the weight of an ATX sized side panel, so they kinda droop a little. Making the case in...

DAN C4-SFX: The smallest water cooling case in the world

2 quick questions: This case is designed mostly to be on the left side of the desk. Don't most people usually have it on the right? Will the USB C connector be a 3.1 usb header for the motherboard, or will both the usb c and usb a connector use the standard usb 3 motherboard connector? I know...

DAN C4-SFX: The smallest water cooling case in the world

Sigh, what a shame. The contrast line behind the front plate is what made this case unique looking. With the new sides, it not only looks a lot more like any other case, but also looks a lot more like the Anthoo cases with the bends on the side panels.

DAN C4-SFX: The smallest water cooling case in the world

Problem is that the front panel would have to be milled out of a solid piece of alu. That is going to be extremely expensive in both materials and manufacturing. Would be way too expensive. That being said, I prefer having the IO on the left too, but with the power button towards the bottom...

DAN C4-SFX: The smallest water cooling case in the world

Front IO looks very messy. I still prefer the original version with the grey stripe between the front and the sides. It makes the case unique instead of generic and hides IO well enough to make it more minimalistic.

DAN C4-SFX: The smallest water cooling case in the world

One more time: How would you fit a radiator + fans + ram + 2-3 slot GPU on 13cm? Look how far these ram stick out, and you want to add 5+cm to that? 13cm width is never going to cut it. The C4 supports 2½ slot GPU's, so that is pretty much all mid to high end GPU's except the most insane...

DAN C4-SFX: The smallest water cooling case in the world

The C4 is cheaper, nicer looking, better build quality and provides better airflow throughout the case and components. I would always accept an additional ½ liter of size for that. Also, how would you ever fit a 24cm radiator in that A4? You know there are actual things on the motherboard PCB...

DAN C4-SFX: The smallest water cooling case in the world

Having it on the top looks a little sleeker, but also more generic/boring. I prefer having it on the side, as it gives a nice contrast to the case, adding detail to making it unique looking. I do prefer having it on the left side, with the power button low. I really wish you could just remove...

DAN C4-SFX: The smallest water cooling case in the world

    1. Cover B seems to be a really good solution to the different use cases. I think this case is mostly made for AIO CPU cooling, so why need such high CPU cooler depth? It's an expensive case so I think people will have large graphics cards with a great cooler on it for silence, so 2½ should at...

DAN C4-SFX: The smallest water cooling case in the world

Definitely the left version with the open part. More airflow means lower noise and better cooling. Could do a crossbar between the two fans for rigidity I guess. If the plate is necessary, maybe just do fan cutouts instead of the grill slots. Also a BIG NO for the Lian Li grommets. I have them...

Same, but I think that is already the case based on the renders. Nice typeface, size and design. Looks better than my Lian Li branding.

DAN C4-SFX: The smallest water cooling case in the world

    1. Ok, I just wondered if your consumers actually wanted it. More choice is never a bad thing ;) 2. I just assumed that would be a lot more expensive for the end user than having them included. 3. Pardon my crappy MS paint skills: 4. I like the holes on my 700 too. Just a way to change the...

DAN C4-SFX: The smallest water cooling case in the world

Had to make a profile in here for this thread. This case looks absolutely gorgeous and is a huge upgrade over A4 due to the better cooling, and active intake. I'm still waiting to make my first ITX build, but this looks so good, I might get it. I would like to give my few cents on it though...
