Still seems to work on some B450s (Asus B450-F and Asrock AB450M-HDV from what I tried, and not the B450-I or MSI B450 Carbon AC) actually, although the sale for $30 off is no longer shown on any of the B450 motherboards.
Same, not to mention most online retailers keep the record for you. For Brick & Mortars it only takes a minute to snap a picture or scan it to yourself for historical purposes.
QVL is a nice to have IMO, I haven't had too many issues especially with later BIOS revisions. The vast majority of us wouldn't notice the difference between DDR4 2933 @ CL16 and DDR4 3000 @ CL14 anyways. I suppose there is a concern with B350/X370 boards on old BIOS with CL16 RAM not even...
That's correct, they can go off serial number for warranty purposes (so you will be covered from the manufacture date, rather than the date of purchase). Better to get the receipt if possible :)
Get this while it's still in stock.

$150 shipped and has a 1-year warranty, whereas any used ones you buy are likely out of warranty.
They definitely go after market share with the release of these budget units - they did the same with the BT/BV/W1 power supplies when they first released.
Brand new release actually, EVGA is likely doing early sales to get a lot of units out. I can say that the previous budget BT and BV models have been pretty popular, well priced, solid user reviews. These should theoretically be superior due to the improved design.
Sure, just budget a cooler in as well - $20 for a Cryorig M9i should do well.
You may also try shopping for an i7 6700 or 7700 to pair with the B250, so that you get the extra threads for processing power.
Sold directly through EVGA's official eBay account for $20 and $30 shipped, respectively. Fully sleeved black cables, DC-DC converter rather than the typical Group Regulated unit at this price and 3-year warranty...
Anyone have a Ryzen 1200 processor I can purchase? Preferably with the stock cooler, but if it saves a lot of money I'll take one without cooler.

What are you trying to cool? The Hyper T2 is $10 on Newegg and Amazon.

And the Cryorig M9i is going for $20 shipped at the same retailers.
The MX500 is indeed regularly around this price and faster. You can get it in M.2 format for the same $200 shipped.

Been using it for a week now, really enjoying it as an upgrade from my old HP Elitebook 1040 G1 (i7 4650u, 1080p screen) in almost every way.
Pros:
- Great processing power with a 4c/8t processor (my old i7 was a dual-core /w HT)
- One of the few Ryzen laptops on the market with dual channel...
Definitely an entry level NVME drive, faster than SATA drives for sustained read/write but not significantly in random, sequential and I/O performance.
I don't think the Z87 Extreme6 has an M.2 slot right? If so, it would not be compatible. I believe most LGA1150 boards with M.2 slots are better paired with SATA drives, rather than NVME (which will impact the PCIE lanes for the graphics cards on the older motherboard platform).
Newegg is selling a quick ADATA SX8200 480GB NVME M.2 SSD that's on par with the Samsung 960 Evo (performance wise and has a 5 year warranty) for $130 shipped.

Tweaktown review for reference, they rated it a top tier unit...
I'd get the Taichi if you are overclocking - overbuilt VRMs / build quality, solid BIOS, fully loaded with features like bluetooth, Wifi, 10GBit ethernet. Asus has the better BIOS setup and Aura Sync (If you are going to RGB) but less features.
I'm not a fan of Gigabyte boards anymore due to...
