That's exactly what I'm using. I use the Molex port - I very briefly tried the USB 3 port and it didn't seem to power it. Might have done it wrong, though - I just plugged it into a standard USB power adapter, like I use for powering my phone.

I also wanted to add that I tonight upgraded my HP firmware from 2.02 to 2.10 using the Linux sg_write_buffer method described in this ServerFault post and repeated earlier in this thread. It's really awesome that this works and that an HP-branded HBA is not required. And my upgrade resulted...
