Going to be doing a new build soon, are hardwarelabs radiators still considered the best, or amongst the best, or does anyone have a better recommendation?
I recently got one, as I wanted to check out the current gen VR tech. I hadn't used anything since the consumer gen 1 occulus rift.
Its a huge improvement over that, love the light weight. I haven't used an index or anything like that, so can't compare to those.
The visual quality does drop off...
If these numbers are legit, I'll get them for my next build. I was going to go with phanteks t30s. That said, I'm kind of sus of these numbers, I didn't think there was that much room for improvement left for fans
I read rumors that Intel is supposed to finally release 2nd gen optane SSDs, which are supposed to be pcie 4. I'd love to pick one up for a boot drive as well.
Thanks for adding that info, sounds like they have the right guys to make it happen. Yeah, intel was coasting for years with their 4 core lineup. Plus, as Apple, how could you even believe Intel's roadmap and trust their ability to deliver, after the repeated failures with 10nm, security issues...
Apple lost the plot on the professional laptop market when they dropped to only 4 USB C ports on the MPB around 2015. Sure it looked neat and the ports had high bandwidth, but who wants to have to carry around a sack of adapters when you go to a meeting etc.
Too bad as before the retina macbooks...
Wow, that makes sense. Intel inventing new ways to scumbag it up.
I was wondering why all with all these new laptops coming out with high end gpus, haven't seen one with the new AMD chips.
I was also hoping to see something like a Lenovo x1 carbon extreme with a Ryzen 6 or 8 core proc and oled...
Thanks for the reply, I will be watching this. I imagine it was frustrating figuring out what was wrong.
I wish they would walk back this change.
I have been using a aquaero 6 with pwm splitters for rad fans as well. I don't understand the need for "protection" on fans either?
This is a real bummer. I have used noctua alot in the past, and didn't expect this. I was planning on getting a bunch of the black nf a12s whenever those are finally released.
I did a quick search and didn't find anywhere else talking about it.
When you talked to support did they indicate if...
Apparently they are planning gen 2 optane ssds after all, sometime in the future, found this recent article https://blocksandfiles.com/2019/09/26/gen-2-optane-bursts-into-life/
Edit to add, the slide in the article only mentions datacenter products, but hopefully that would mean consumer ones...
Finally built a new system for the wife, and used one of those 900p 280gb cards that was on sale when I picked it up last year. Was able to sell the star citizen code and bring the cost of the drive to around 220$ from memory.
The optane drive really does make for a snappy system drive, it is...
One of things that was great about old school shooters where you could run private servers. You end up playing with guys you know, and admins can ban cheaters.
I picked up Primocache after reading about it in the forums here. It made a noticeable difference for me as well, even in my system with a nvme ssd for the OS. Would love to see what it would do with Optane as well.
It would be ironic if after all these years, it ends up being competition to steam that forces valve to release titles that the community wants, that are guaranteed to sell by the boatload.
The other thing that makes these look like a poor value for someone without unlimited funds, is the impending 7nm refresh. The original Pascal Titan owners had a great run, because there was not a shrink.
It would be a kick in the balls if in 8 months, there is a 7nm Titan RTXR or whatever they...
The vendor is trying to rob you. You should get 3rd party ram. Some vendors try to push you to buy their branded ram, as its the highest margin part of the build. Change your BOM to the minumum the vendor will let you spec, and get a separate quote on ram and install it yourself. As an example...
I've never played it before, but have been meaning to since I always hear great things about it. I'm kind of torn if I should do my first play through with this new enhanced edition or wait for the the full remaster they are working on.
well, they didn't add anymore ports to it, so its a 'pro' notebook that requires dongles to do anything worthwhile. It's almost as if they actively try to push away business/pro users
That would be pretty underwhelming considering the amount of time since the 1080 Ti has been out, and the higher price. I would hope for a bigger bump than the Titan V since it wouldn't have the tensor hardware.
I always wondered why there hasn't been a new standard like A3D, I played half life and the original thief with it, it was truly immersive. With modern multicore processors, you probably wouldn't even need dedicated hardware. Too bad there isn't a Kronos group type organization for 3d sound...
Has anyone hear of any plans for a ~40 inch 4k or 5k OLED tv or monitor with VRR such as freesync or Gsync? It looks like the current OLED displays are a bit too big for my desk setup.
Wow, that is really bold to ask for ~2k$ for a monitor with that kind of haloing! I would expect a perfection for that price, and the option for bigger size.
