Same boat. I'm mucking around in Fusion 360 right now and the off-yellow of the corners and the weirdness of black-on-grey-on-white details is rampant. I am able to sit a bit further back than you so I'll count myself lucky.
Oh well. I'll forget about it as soon as I do pretty much anything...
Very interesting, I didn't expect such success with an affordable arm. Some of the really beefy stuff gets crazy expensive, but I think I'll give one of those a shot.
About how much further forward does the arm make the monitor sit? I currently have the OEM legs set as far back as they can...
Has anyone put this thing on a monitor arm?
I'm starting to crave a floating monitor. The included feet are less intrusive than the center pedestel on my last monitor, but I want to clean things up.
Hah....I was just reading the last few updates to this thread, thinking about how lucky I am to have a unit I'm happy with, and the display cut out for a few seconds. Happened the moment I clicked my profile name in the upper right corner and the little window expanded. Come to think of it...
I'm not sure if this is a FV43U-specific issue or not, but does anyone know how to make nvidia GPUs stop detecting this monitor as a "new audio device" every time it is turned on? I'm not even using the displays audio, nor do I have the nvidia HD audio drivers installed.
Most streaming services do not offer their highest quality streams to PCs because "anti piracy" 🙄🙄🙄 Netflix's 4k package, for example, simply doesnt provide any benefit to browsers.
Unrelated, but if anyone bought this display from Newegg prior to the "Fantastech Sales" event they just had...
I'm not really informed enough on LCD tech to make a call. My totally uninformed guess would be that the BGR subpixel layout has something to do with it, only because I've never seen this before now and this is my first BGR panel. It might also be an artifact of some "feature" of the monitor...
I notice this occasionally as well, it almost looks like the screen door effect on lowish-res VR, but only on the Y axis. It's not enough to bother me, but I'm glad that someone else mentioned it so I know I'm not totally nuts.
I've grown to like my FV43U more with time, and after a few weeks...
I requested a price match. Had to go through their support chat because the automated form kept failing. At first they agreed right away, but then I got an email stating that the manual refund wont process because the item is "on the Fantastech sale list. So we will not issue the refund...
I got this display earlier in the week and very nearly started a return with Newegg. I had text blurriness issues and couldn't view my system BIOS - something about the way the system changes resolutions at boot seemed to cause the monitor to think it had no signal and would shut off...
They have a lot more in common than I bet you'd be willing to admit.
Microsoft chooses when and how to update software on both systems. They push ads to both systems. They're pushing W10 gaming towards a closed console-like environment via DX12 exclusivity, Microsoft store exclusives, and...
8.1 with ClassicShell is everything W10 should have been.
I'll never understand why anyone would spend the time and money to build a custom enthusiast rig and then basically hand the keys over to Microsoft. Just buy an xbox.
Self driving cars aren't the future, they're here. There are 3.5 million truck drivers in the United States. That one industry alone being automated would increase the current unemployed total in the US by 44%. I'm not going to bother finding numbers for taxi drivers, chauffers, mail...
Looks like A-Tuning was the culprit, somehow. I checked everything - fans all set to "Standard" in UEFI, 3-pin to 3-pin and 4-pin to 4-pin connections, killing all my monitoring/overclocking software. Fans still pegged at 100%. Out of frustration I uninstalled A-Tuning and rebooted, and...
I tried Speedfan but it couldn't actually control any of the fans - same issue as with the Asrock A-Tuning software where the fans run at 100% at all times. I'm not sure if this is a hardware issue or if A-Tuning is overriding the settings for all programs.
As others have stated, the NZXT G10 bracket is a very good option. I have two cards with g10's and Kraken x41's - a Gigabyte R9 290x Windforce in my HTPC and an EVGA GTX 1080 SC in my main rig. Both cards saw huge temp decreases compared to their stock (non-reference) coolers. I actually...
What is the best way to take control of my fans?
My motherboard - an Asrock z97 Extreme6 that is otherwise great - has serious issues with fan control. I can't seem to get any board-powered fans to run at anything less than 100%, and even if that worked the Asrock software is difficult to live...
Guy downloads a song? "STOP BREAKING THE LAW, ASSHOLE!"
Guy actually causes property damage and ruins the day of regular blue-collar folks? "Omg hahaha my hero"
Right. Ok.
This article needs to be mandatory reading for all gamers who feel like sharing thoughts on the internet. It feels like 90% of game criticism on Steam and Reddit is just children saying "hurr durr it isn't optimized enough, why are these devs so bad at optimizing!!!". I always feel like these...
Sony: "Our new sticks produce a bigger fire in less time!"
Microsoft: "Sony's new sticks still aren't fast enough, our upcoming sticks will be way better"
PC Gamers: "Guys, we've been using lighters for years now."
Unless it's different for 300/400 series cards or something that is being rolled out very soon, the drivers at least weren't tied to any logins or non-essential software. As of last week I was happily downloading manual updates for my 290x and ignoring any bundled software except CCC.
God dammit. I just brought a 1080 Seahawk home from Microcenter last night after being an ATI/AMD user for 10+ years, then I log in to see this first thing in the morning.
Stock valuations are determined using past performance and current asset/liability valuations, but also future expectations. Once Uber starts rolling out driverless cars, they can stop paying those pesky humans and start raking in cash like crazy. Believe it or not, the people on Wall Street...
It already is.
You'll never know, as intended.
"Crook" has such a fluid definition, wouldn't you agree?
Most of the intelligence community, any law enforcement that knows how to ask the right people, and hackers.
Forever.
Pick up that can, citizen.
A match made in heaven! A hardware OEM known for shipping rootkits in laptops partners with a software OEM known for gobbling up all the personal info it can and whittling away the control users have over their machines.
Wow, what a bold article. People do need to pay more attention to small hidden gems like GTA:V and Fallout 4. Titles like that barely have any marketing behind them and really struggle to break even for the small indie studios behind them.
Wow, this deserved post on the front page? Jezebel is a shitty Gawker tabloid, and you're doing exactly what they want by getting gamers riled up enough to click the link.
Wasabi Mango UHD400. Pretty Samsung panel running on different hardware that makes it a proper monitor instead of a TV.
No. Nothing on the market currently drives 4k "without compromises' across all games.
Such mixed emotions. I'm proud of the gaming community for seemingly not being caught up by Facebook's BS with Oculus, but I'm dissapointed in that W10 adoption rate. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but privacy and control must not be important to the average gamer.
So then should the GP setting to "ask before downloading and ask before installing updates" should keep this update at bay? I put off getting w10 until this week because I wanted to give it as much time in the wild as possible so I could hop on board once all the dirty stuff hidden away in it...
How does this affect a system running Win10 Pro with Cortana turned off via Group Policy?
I was ready to switch back to 8.1 before discovering Group Policy settings. It seemed to be the tool I needed to fix all my 10 complaints, but if it isn't enough to stop this sort of BS then I'm going...
...that sounds about right for Samsung. They drug their feet every step of the way when that mess was playing out, doing everything they could to shirk responsibility. I won't buy Samsung anymore if I have the option.
