27" or 32" monitors with the option to disable DP "deep sleep"?

My icons are still doing whacky stuff even on Windows 11, but that isn't really the big issue. I want to be able to turn my second monitor off or on while playing a game (or really just using my computer in general) without it triggering a hardware disconnected/reconnected event that causes my...

27" or 32" monitors with the option to disable DP "deep sleep"?

What the title says. I'm looking for a 27" or 32" 1440p or 4k monitor (preferably 120hz+) that allows you to turn off "deep sleep" mode via displayport. In more practical terms, I WANT A MONITOR I CAN TURN OFF WITHOUT WINDOWS THINKING IT DISAPPEARED FROM EXISTENCE AND REARRANGING MY DESKTOP...

    Alienware AW3225QF 32" 4K 240 Hz OLED

This result is absolutely pathetic. Even older WOLEDs blow this out of the water. Comparing them to even last years QD-OLED TVs would be a joke at best. I think I would deal with a 42" TV before buying one of these dim turds. The 42" C2 HDR is 37% brighter in "real scene brightness". Mini LED...

    Alienware AW3225QF 32" 4K 240 Hz OLED

How does the HDR performance compare between the two? I planned on jumping on the first flat panel version of this monitor to come to market, but I'm having second thoughts after seeing some of the brightness measurements... 10% window measurements looks terrible. Worse than even the C2...

Black Friday - Hulu/Max/Disney+/Paramount/Peacock Streaming Deals

So now I have to pay for a VPN, and suffer house-wide latency and bandwidth limitations due to the VPN as well? Just to block ads? Wow, what a deal!!!

Black Friday - Hulu/Max/Disney+/Paramount/Peacock Streaming Deals

So completely irrelevant, unless you want to watch your shows/movies in potato quality. If I had to pick between suffering through ads, or ad-free but at 720p with no HDR... I'm taking the ads even if they cost extra (please don't tell the streaming companies that or Hulu is going to start...

Black Friday - Hulu/Max/Disney+/Paramount/Peacock Streaming Deals

Let me guess... they involve watching on a computer and not a streaming device like a Shield TV? The ads are a deal breaker for me at any price point as well.

Anyone else disappointed with this seasons game releases?

2023 has been pretty phenomenal in terms of game releases IMO. 11 out of the 22 games I played this year were new releases, and the only one that truly disappointed me was Diablo 4. And I have yet to play BG3 or some of the other heavy hitters this year.

    Alan Wake 2

Yes, 7/10 for the total package at the moment because it's one of the best looking games on the market currently. And no, a game doesn't have to be a 10/10 for me to play it. I played Shadow Warrior 3 and Maneater earlier this year, and both ranked a 7/10 on my completely non-scientific personal...

    Alan Wake 2

Finally finished this dumpster fire tonight. The ending hours were some of the worst parts of the entire game. I'm giving this one a 7/10, mainly carried by the incredible graphics. Next generation, this will be a 4/10 on a good day. Easily the worst Remedy game I have ever "played".

I'm still not touching this woke dumpster fire with a 10 foot pole.

    Alan Wake 2

Either I'm going insane, or the original Alan Wake had a recharging flashlight. Like it would recharge out of combat, so you rarely had to use batteries. Fun little (likely) bug I've noticed in AW2 - loading a save game fully recharges your flashlight. I've accidentally hit "Q" a few times and...

    Alan Wake 2

No, I'm not new to "modern gaming". Not sure what you're getting at here. This game is complete, and nothing is broken about it. In fact, it's technically better than most AAA titles released this year. Looks great, runs great (considering the graphical fidelity), no game breaking bugs, etc...

    Alan Wake 2

It's far from fantastic, because every now and then they force you to "play" the game. And the actual "gameplay" is horrible. I have no idea how they possibly could have play tested this game and went "yep, this is fine, lets ship it".

    Alan Wake 2

I couldn't agree more. The first couple hours had me hooked. Amazing graphics, slow buildup... The first couple jump scares, the buildup to the first boss fight, and the first Alan Wake level all had my skin crawling. But it didn't take long for things to end up off in the weeds. I'm more...

    Alan Wake 2

The 4090 can do ~60 fps native 4k WITH path tracing (which is bleeding edge technology and insanely demanding in terms of GPU performance) and FG. Is 60 fps not considered "just fine" anymore? ...and before you go "but but but!!! frame gen is fake frames!!!!!!! it doesn't count!!!" you never...

    Alan Wake 2

You can run AW2 @ 4k max settings without upscaling on a 4090 just fine currently. Although it would be silly NOT to use upscaling when it looks visually identical but performs better. I'll never understand the folks who are absolutely obsessed with "native" resolution. Dead Space remake is the...

63 FPS with DLSS Quality and PT? Does performance improve later on or something? 4k/PT/DLSS RR/DLSS Quality was in the 40-50 range for me during the opening scenes.

    Dead Space remake (2023)

If you want to play it, it's absolutely a buy at $35. It was worth buying at $60.

Review the game you finished recently.

Spider-Man 2 Graphics - Absolutely phenomenal. If it looks this good on a console, I can only imagine what the PC version will eventually look like. Gameplay - More of the same. Nothing particularly new or innovative. Feels like another Ubisoft title. Story - Nowhere near as good as the first...

    Alan Wake 2

After watching reviews from ACG, GmanLives, and Luke Stephens, my excitement for this sequel has pretty much been crushed. I'll probably end up buying it just for the graphics, but the game itself looks mediocre at best.

What are you nerds playing this weekend?

Spider-Man 2. So far so meh. I'm 5-6 hours in and it's giving me Ubisoft vibes. A great game, but the bar was set very high by the original, and this just feels like more of the same.

    Forza Motorsport(8) thread

Is anyone else getting random performance drops? I'll randomly have my frame rate drop from 80-90 fps into the 40s, with GPU usage similarly falling off a cliff. Eventually figured out that all I have to do is pause and then un-pause the game to fix it. Very strange. Also, the whole car XP...

    Cyberpunk 2077

Simple answer: you don't get deep blacks. HDR was completely busted when the game came out 3 years ago, and it's still pretty terrible now. Lowering the tone mapping midpoint setting helps, but you'll never be able to get true black. Really disappointing, since this game would be a true HDR...

    Cyberpunk 2077

Loaded up the game to check out the new update, and I can't do the "Upgrade U" quest. It doesn't appear on the map, and it won't let me track it through the journal. Awesome. I played the game at launch and had less game breaking bugs than this. You can only enable DLSS 3.5 ray reconstruction...

Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon

Mouse and keyboard controls are surprisingly good. Runs OK. I was cruising along until I got to the boss at the end of chapter 1. This dude is kicking my ass. Turning off depth of field is an absolute must. It makes everything in the distance look like a blurry mess. Whoever decided this...

    Resident Evil 4 (remake)

Loading into my current NG+ save file at the beginning of the game, I'm completely GPU bottlenecked. HDR on and HDR off both result in 99% GPU utilization and 122 fps.

Perfect timing, now that I'm no longer hamstrung by a 21:9 monitor that the developers refuse to support.

What are you nerds playing this weekend?

The Last of Us Part 1. I've bought the game 3 times now (original, PS4 remaster, PC release) and have just now made it more than an hour into the game. It's not bad, but so far (5 hours in) it's definitely my least favorite of all the major "Playstation exclusives". It runs... OK... better than...

    Resident Evil 4 (remake)

4k 144hz over DP with DSC here and HDR is still working flawlessly. The vast majority of PC gamers are still stuck in SDR, and clearly people having issues with HDR are outliers. So it shouldn't be surprising that the "PCGaming community in general failed to notice this issue". Have you tried...

The 32 inch 4k IPS 144hz's...(Update - this party is started) (wait for it...)

People said the same thing about the fan in the PG35VQ, and that monitor ended up being louder than my entire computer.

After all these years, does a PS5 controller work in windows?

It's plug and play via USB for me. Haven't tried bluetooth since the haptic feedback/adaptive triggers only work when wired (thanks Sony).

The 32 inch 4k IPS 144hz's...(Update - this party is started) (wait for it...)

The Viewsonic (or Asus equivalent) was the only choice. The X32 FP is riddled with issues, and the unpurchasable Innocn 32M2V likely isn't any better. No hardware G-Sync on an LCD = GTFO. If I wanted a rinky dink 27" height screen, I would have stuck with my PG35VQ or bought an AW3423DW and...

The 32 inch 4k IPS 144hz's...(Update - this party is started) (wait for it...)

Been waiting for this, thanks for the followup. On one hand, I'm disappointed that there isn't a significant improvement in the FALD performance in terms of blooming. But on the other hand, I'm relieved that I don't feel the need to ship my monitor off for a month. When you said the halo...

I think you misunderstood my post. I meant that YOUR comments that: "cheap C2 that looks like literal dark shit with far less accuracy across the board. MiniLED has been deliver far superior HDR than any of these shitty OLED for 5 years now lol." was one of the worst takes I have ever seen. I...
