Why not just get a dedicated AV processor. The Outlaw Model 975 is (relatively) affordable and Emotiva should be launching the MC-700 soon. I'm using the Outlaw unit since receivers can't handle my speakers.
Is there an itx server blade out there with 2 pci expansion slots that can use a sfx psu? I'm turning up a lot of itx server blades but it's a lot to sift through and I figured if anyone knew it'd be here.
I have two 4tb nas drives in mine. You'll have no problem using a second bracket and if you don't have a dedicated gpu in the case airflow will be fine, especially if you put fans in the bottom.
I wouldn't recommend completely blocking the side intake with 4 nas hard drive if you plan on using...
If all you're doing with it is gaming you'll notice little difference, maybe 2-3 fps. Really not a loss there so going with a 6700t in the alpha or 6700 in the node 202 or Raven case would be good options for a new sff system.
Also keep in mind that the footprint of the graphics amplifier is...
There wont be much of a difference between those processors for gaming. You'll only really notice the loss of the extra cores in professional uses like CAD modeling/rendering. Also Asus has done testing with tb3 docks which are also pcie x4 and said it doesn't bottleneck the gpu. That being said...
Hmm my open model isn't doing so well but it's doing slightly better than the founders edition. I was wondering if I should go with a blower instead of an open cooler since I want to sell my card and pick up a different 1080 that has two HDMI ports. Maybe I should also sell the CPU cooler and go...
I had two particularly noisy high flow 3000rpm noctua industrials and they did very little to help the reference 290 I had before I bought a non reference 1080. IMO it's not worth the hassle, bottom fans will cool an extra degree or two extra but will make the case even more crowded, noisy, and...
It won't affect your CPU temps negatively like it has for me but it still won't be effeciently cooling your gpu. There's no vents on the gpu bay so the hot air will pool up there quite a bit before exhausting out the top and that'll raise gpu temps. I recommend going with a reference card or a...
If you decide on an Ncase M1 make sure to get either a reference or blower style gpu. If you get an open cooler gpu the CPU cooler will intake the hot GPU exhaust and it'll raise CPU temps.
If you go for a Dan A4 any style GPU will work because the CPU and GPU are compartmentalized so the GPU...
Honestly if you want more pcie lanes then the mainstream processor line isn't the way to got. An x99 board would be ideal though, imagine a mini itx x99 board with 4 m.2 connectors on the back running at full x4 bandwidth.
I swear I'm tempted to buy one and build a second rig that I don't need lol. It's a damn shame it doesn't have enough room for 3.5" drives. I have no problem downsizing the cooler and running at stock clocks but I can't give up the 8tb's of storage my two drives give me.
I used some 3000 rpm noctua industrials on the bottom. To be honest it wasn't worth wasting the space because it only lowered gpu temps by 2-3 degrees and did nothing for the rest of the temps.
Believe me I love the idea of having a 22 core cpu and 64gb of ram in my Ncase but what's the point. Only servers and a few select professions that require compute intensive workstations would make use of the chip. All that ram and cores would be wasted on a gamer.
Also since 16gb ddr4 dimms...
Unfortunately they're Bluetooth so they won't show up during the bios so you'll have to get your OC and everything else setup with whatever keyboard you have lying around before using it. I have a black rk61 and I love it.
I second getting the z170n gaming 5 mobo and a 950 pro m.2 instead. You'll save money and the gigabyte board has done extremely well for me. As for the wireless keyboard I recomend the royal Kludge RK61, it's mechanical and Bluetooth so you'll have no wires and won't have to sacrifice a USB...
Makes sense
The amount of money it would take to have Lian Li to retool and produce filters wouldn't be worth it. Honestly I don't see the filters being a big issue, they're not that bad. It would be cool if the Ncase was designed for off the shelf slot in filters from another case but the...
Well adjusting the fan curve helped get it down to 79 degrees max with no throttling. Still that leaves practically no room for overclocking.
Does anybody know of a good pump cpu waterblock combo. The apogee drive 2 has some serious leakage problems all across the Internet and I don't want a...
I haven't had time to mess with the fan profiles yet but I'm planning to do that tonight. I have two noctua industrials underneath it. Although one isn't hooked up because I don't have a second fan header, the splitter cable should've arrived yesterday so hopefully it'll be waiting for me when I...
I posted about it a few posts up. The Superclocked 1080 hits 81 degrees after 4-5 minutes in furmark and starts throttling. It also raised cpu temps by 26 degrees in the stress test compared to the stress test temps from my reference 290.
i recommend returning it and getting the cheaper $609 EVGA Blower style 1080. I was running furmark and I hit the 81 degree throttling point at stock clocks and not only that but it dumped so much heat into the case that my cpu reached 80 degrees (it was maxing at 56 degrees during furmark when...
Need more plastic and rgb lighting :D
In all seriousness how about a side panel set that has vent holes extending down to the gpu compartment, it should help greatly with open gpu coolers since they can intake from the bottom fans and passively exhaust out the side.
Yeah the hard drives actually do fit with a full sized gpu. This case is absolutely packed, when I get around to making those custom cables it'll look a little neater.
And you've brought me to the earth shattering realization that my pair of 4tb hard drive won't fit. Looks like I'll be building a Linux server for my music and videos. Maybe I'll pirate the 750gb 2.5" drive out of my M11x for games. It'll save myself the money of buying more PC parts.
Nope. There's not enough space for a 140mm fan and a half 120mm fan to coexist in the side of the Ncase, even though the 140mm isn't mounted on the side bracket.
I mainly want it because of the larger heatsink. With the larger heatsink and second power connector I might be able to achieve a higher stable OC. I've also heard EVGA bins their chips and puts the better ones on their FTW and Classified series.
I could care less about rgb lighting, I almost...
I've got a Superclocked 1080 on the way but according to the updated specs the FTW will fit the Ncase (it's supposedly 128mm high) . Now I'm trying to decide if it's worth returning the card and grabbing the FTW edition.
Individually sleeved cables are also more flexible for the most part. Which is a godsend in sff cases. Also if you sleeve them all in one you'll have to carefully label each wire so the pinouts are correct and you don't fry your rig, it's easy to keep track when you're doing it one wire at a...
I must have been a wizard the first time because I can't get my reference 290 back in the case lol. I was hoping to see if I'd have enough clearance for the 1080's with the fans. I gues I kind of accomplished that, I should be able to fit them but the backplate will have to come off. Luckily the...
The psu side of the motherboard header is a split 18 pin and 10 pin connector but both are common connectors available at mainframe customs/moddiy and other websites. Everything else on the psu is the standard 6 and 8 pin connectors. Sata, molex, and split connector (6+2, 20+4 etc) are all...
In all my use of it in my Ncase build I haven't heard it making any of those noises. And my build has mostly been run at idle since I'm just doing minor tweaks and installs until I receive a 1080 and rewire the psu.
