“What the Hell Does Valve Even Do Anymore (besides Take Our Money)?”

I had to install Steam when I purchased HL2, and I've used it ever since without issue. I have hundreds of games on there, and never had any issues with playing any game at any time on any version of Windows throughout the years. The cloud save function works great, the marketplace has made me...

Glass-Bodied iPhone 8 Shatters Repeatedly in Drop Tests

I've dropped my HTC One M9 more times than I can remember (including face down) and the thing is built like a tank, so only has a few scratches to show for it. I hate phone cases, they make shit too bulky for me, so having a glass cased phone would be a bad idea for me!

    Tuesday September 11, 2001 Remembrance

I remember exactly what I was doing that day. I was working in the back office processing finance orders for a small computer club in the UK. Was an average day (as we are several hours ahead) up to the early afternoon when the IT guys came bursting in saying "A plane has hit the twin towers"...

I wonder how many PC gamers have moved on due to lack of mid-priced cards

I agree - as long as you know the card is sound and you ship it securely then you are all good. I recently sold my Sapphire Radeon 280x on ebay, 2 years after buying it off ebay at £110 and I sold it for....£110! Served me well and went towards my 1070 that I picked up just before the insane...

I wonder how many PC gamers have moved on due to lack of mid-priced cards

The 20 series has not been announced (only the pro Volta cards are known right now) so of course retailers are going to be stocking as soon as they can. The mining craze has taken both camps a little by surprise, and it's not easy to just ramp up production to meet demand - AMD did this last...

AMD Radeon RX Vega GPU Specs and Pricing Revealed

The lack of numbers is jumping out at me - it's like RTG/AMD realise they have a dud, but have sunk time and money into making it the best they can. The fact they are banging on about freesync and throwing bundles out there to entice potential buyers just smacks of pure desperation to me. I've...

The Reign of 3D Is over in US Cinemas

+1 to the hurts my eyes/gives headache camp! Only good thing I've seen in 3d was a football (soccer as you call it) game that was shown in a pub many years ago - it was fun! Only did it the once though as it never took off!

Blind Test - RX Vega FreeSync vs. GTX 1080 TI G-Sync

Great video - been waiting for it all day (even longer as I'm in the UK!). Was expecting the 1080Ti to score better considering the comparisons that AMD have been doing on their little tour is against the standard 1080. As some have said above, having a couple say they would pay the $300 for...

European Employers Must Warn Job Applicants before Checking Their Social Media

I don't see how it can be a breach of data protection - the user has put that information in the public domain, so it can be accessed by anyone who uses the tool. That said, this is the EU we are talking about, so data protection is high on their shit list, and there's a whole new raft of...

AMD & NVIDIA GPU VR Performance: Island 359 @ [H]

AMD is really lacking once again. Surely they must test VR in house and must come up with the same shitty performance barriers that are seen here time and again, yet have the gall to come out as a "VR platform" which is basically false advertising! I was leaning towards an RX 480 for a...

    Is GTX 1070 overkill for 1080p? Should I go RX 480/GTX 1060?

Buy the best you can afford! There is no such thing as "overkill" in this market, because what might be classed as overkill now, will not be in a year or so. If you can afford that 1070, go for it!

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Founders Edition Review @ [H]

But if you can get that performance for roughly $200 less (if we go on the basis a RX480 is $250 & the 1080 is $699) then it starts to make a bit more sense (well, it does to me as I have a family to sustain, and not a lot of disposable income!) IF the cost is roughly the same, then of course...

    GTX1060 by the numbers

It's not as if Vulkan has just appeared from nowhere, and a quick google brings up this blog from nVidia singing it's praises... I don't doubt for one minute that nVidia do some astonishing things in their software to get the performance they do, just now with these new API's the AMD long game...

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Founders Edition Review @ [H]

Cheapest one I can find in stock at Overclockers here in the UK is a Palit card at £269.99 However, the XFX 4gb RX480 is in stock (not sure if this is the one that can be unlocked to 8gb) @ £215.99 or the cheapest 8gb version in stock is a PowerColor one at £224.99 - both are the reference...

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Founders Edition Review @ [H]

...but it does benefit all gamers! Unlike GameWorks or some other black box tricks Vulkan is open source and ALL hardware can use it. Already seen gains from all boards switching to it, but just so happens that AMD have the 'better' hardware to take advantage of it right now.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Founders Edition Review @ [H]

I would agree to a point, but the gains had by the RX480 just by changing the API really would make me lean towards the 480 just because it seems to be more futureproof (if you can call a midrange card futureproof). The 1060 is a great card, but the FE is way overpriced.

Red Light Cameras Are The Ultimate Scam For Drivers And Cities

If you want to learn to love roundabouts, come to Milton Keynes in the UK.... ‘No-one planned to make Milton Keynes a city of roundabouts’ That said, in the right places, they are far better than lights (unless you have the lights ON the roundabout...yes it happens!)

    RX 480 water blocks.

Not sure if it's just me, but spending almost half the card value on a water block just seems a bit .... backwards?! Might as well just put that cash towards a 1070 and be done with it....unless something crazy with the AIB cards happen

Official NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Announcement @ [H]

OK first off the reason that $200 cards are rarely talked about is because we have been on the same process node for such a long time, and the performance hasn't been all that - until now. Secondly crossfire or SLI 2 lower end cards is not something most will do immediately, but it's sure as...

Official NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Announcement @ [H]

But....for a lot of people it does work, and work well. This is a backwards step for nVidia and for gamers generally IMO. What next, the 1170 doesn't support SLI as it might eat into the 1180 sales etc, or SLi is only for the top end card? I can guarantee if AMD said there was no Crossfire on...

Official NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Announcement @ [H]

I think this is set up nicely for the AIB RX480's to compare with the 1060. It really does seem like AMD purposely gimped their card to keep the AIB partners happy that their kit will sell over the reference model! Also, the AIB costs should be more in line with the 1060's pricing as well...

Power Draw RX 480 - gaming and Furmark

Could this have come about from a duff bios that somehow got slapped onto a load of cards in error, AMD realized this but went ahead anyway? Something seems VERY off with this, especially as it's such a large error. I wont deny I'm a long term AMD fan, but this really has put any thought of...

AMD Radeon RX 480 Video Card Review @ [H]

Good review, and performance has landed right where I expected the reference card to land. I don't think the reference cooling system does it any favors, and is designed for the stock speed and nothing else! Looking forward to the AIB "beast" mode cards that will have more power options and...

ASUS ROG GTX 1080 STRIX GAMING Video Card Review @ [H]

...and in the same thread... We have created some wrong claims regarding ASUS STRIX GTX 1080 OC, where we have told customers that we can not deliver the graphic card any time soon, because of no cards in production from ASUS because of a high RMA rate. So we recommended customers to cancel...

    Radeon RX 480 Competition Poll

AMD Radeon RX 480 Thermal Imaging and Overclocking Numbers?

This is off the reference model that only has the 1x 6pin. You will have to wait for the AIB models with the additional power before you get to the bigger numbers (hence the higher price points).
