Are the first generation i7's practically worthless now. I mean i have a 920 with a gtx580 and it seems to run everything pretty decent. I keep seeing them around the market for dirt cheap.

I wouldn't pay top dollar for a 970 though, you should be able to get them cheaper used on ebay and I know there are some great deals on them. It could save you 50-60 bucks and you can put that money down on in-game content or other computer upgrades ;)
