I just wish OLED were more mature. It's got too many issues right now for me to consider, especially given the price. I'm talking about motion blur, g2g, input latency, burn-in (which is a huge problem on my Note 4. Considering actually replacing the screen on it because of this. It would be...
You should also be waiting for OLED to not have such bad
motion blur
input lag
burn-in
brightness fade over time
Honestly, the burn-in alone is a huge con for OLED, especially for gaming where you often have static HUD elements and whatnot on-screen for long periods of time. After a year...
Founder's Edition cards were nVidia cards with fewer features than board partner releases, for more money. They're just reference cards with a boosted price tag because AMD has nothing to compete with.
Which brings me to Polaris underperforming. I mean, what more do you need to know? It's...
I would never buy EVGA. They're fucking garbage! Remember this? http://i1.wp.com/www.eteknix.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/heatpipe.jpg
There is a reason they're cheaper. They are overrated trash.
Not even worth it going from a 1070 to 1080. It's really late in the game to be buying a Pascal card. Just wait for Volta. You'd really feel the difference that way. It's only a few months out.
I, too, feel as though LCD took a few steps backward. CRT has its problems, but you don't ever have to worry about display lag issues while twitch gaming, and it's taken a long time to LCDs to catch up to CRT in terms of resolution and refresh rate as well.
I have a 24" Sony FW-900 from a...
lulul WTF would make you think quantum dot had anything to do with HDR? Quantum dot displays were around a long time before anybody heard anything about HDR displays. Quantum dots merely add a layer to the display that improves saturation and gamut. It has nothing to do with changing the...
Never gonna happen. That would mean they'd have to admit to there having been a problem in the first place. Plus, it's a hardware limitation, I can almost guarantee.
Sounds to me like bandwidth issues. So, not the card, but the cable. I could be wrong though. But if it's not flickering at lower bandwidth settings (4:2:2, 30hz, etc.) then it's probably just a lower capacity cable.
So I got my replacement JS9000, and holy shit it's so much nicer. The discoloration is completely gone. It's like night and day. However, the very first thing I noticed when I turned it on, and it went to that mostly white initial setup screen, there is a single completely dead pixel right in...
I just tried this, and it's fucking terrible! It was so fucking laggy, I couldn't play TF2 for shit. Sure, it was smoothed out, but that created huge amounts of delay. So goddamned annoying!
Use PC mode. You don't suffer the image degradation, and there is no noticeable input lag. It's...
So, I'm curious how normal this is. It seems pretty severe to me. Do I have a bad unit? Is this common for the JS9000? On a white screen, it's most noticeable. Not really noticeable while gaming usually. But check out the brown areas I have on the left and right. Far more noticeable on...
Scratch that. It was apparently a switched outlet. It works now but for some reason only the power button on the remote works with the TV. Dammit.
Edit - I paired it and it works now. :P
My JS9000 won't turn on. I plugged in the power and the OCB and an HDMI and when I first plug in the power, the white light on the middle comes on and the red light on the right blinks several times. Then nothing happens.
Just snagged me a JS9000 from Crutchfield for $650. :D Well, technically it cost more, but that's all I paid. Saved up a year's worth of parking subsidies from my work, spent them on Crutchfield gift cards. :) Stoked.
Crutchfield now has the UN48JS9000 for $1499. Way better price than has ever been presented. I'm still torn between this and the Vizio P50-C1 though. Neither set is perfect, but which one is the best for me? :/
I'm not talking about warranty. If I have an issue like dead pixels in my face or something, some places don't care and make you keep it. Crutchfield doesn't ask questions. BJs sounds vaguely familiar but it's not a West Coast thing, I think.
As for the curve, if you're trying to do some...
Not sure I trust that place, judging by its online reviews.
Also, not sure quantum dots or a curve (which may actually prove to be a negative in all situations other than gaming) trump the FALD and HDR support of the Vizio.
But then, the only place you can get the Vizio right now is Best Buy...
Vizio P Series 2016 Review (P50-C1, P55-C1, P65-C1, P75-C1)
It has considerably lower input latency than the JS9000, and a lot more input options as well. It's cheaper in part because it contains no OTA tuner. But who the hell wants one of those anyway these days? Especially on a PC display. :p
So now I'm thinking of moving away from the JS9000. Apparently, Vizio's new P50-C1 has even BETTER image quality than the JS9000, FALD, HDR, a free Android tablet which serves as the remote, AND it's $1000 CHEAPER than the JS9000. Holy crap. This bad boy is looking like a real winner. Only...
Nice find. I wonder what kind of return policy they have though. I know Adorama is not one of those fly-by-night gray market East Coast retailers, but Crutchfield has reportedly been taking back displays with dead pixels with no fuss. Plus, I have $700 worth of gift cards saved up (monthly...
So both the 55" and 48" JS9000 are now priced at $1,999. WTF, Samsung? Knock that 48 back down to 15-1600 and I'll jump in. Are there really enough people buying these for desktops that you need to jack the price up?
So now, the 55" UN55JS9000 is $1,999.99 and the 48" UN48JS9000 is $2,299.99. WTF? I'm hoping this means the 48 will hit $1500 soon. 55" is just too big for a monitor, unless you're on the couch or something. :/
