I don't think that you can compare them just based on the TDP, for example a xeon has more instruction sets, and synthetic tests heavily rely on those.
Another thing, you said lian-li created a shielded pci-e cable, have you got any with the new prototypes to test it out?
Thank God, some people invented that thing, whats it called? Oh yes, its called the USB HUB! Too bad it costs a fortune... Oh wait... it only costs a few bucks!
Great summary! Good to see that the case works as expected :)
Looks like I made the good decision when 2 months ago I bought the LP53!
Now give us that crowdfunding campaign, so we can spend our money :D
Dan, you said you will test that the MSI GTX 970 Gaming will fit or not, have you got the opportunity to test it? I would like to buy my new video card so i can play with the new game releases before i get the case :)
Hey Dan! Nice work with the case :)
By the way, you should mount the LP53 in a way that the end of the heatpipes point upwards (so you should turn 180° on the cooler), that way they heatpipes work better, its not that much, but potentially can make the CPU 3-5°C cooler!
I don't know, this version only prevents misalignment, the screws would actually apply the force from the side, that would be more stable. Also it only secures the bottom side, the top still could wobble a tiny bit.
Although i never used the lian-li push-pins, i can imagine that the screw version is more stable, and considering that quite a lot of people want to buy this case to travel with it, maybe it would be a better solution (and i guess a cheaper one as well)
I don't know if it helps, but he lives in Germany, and He said he plans to do the distribution from Germany as well. Dondan feel free to correct me if I'm wrong!
I saw the pictures of the prototype, and as you can see, dondan planning to change that to give more air to the video cards. And i know that there are a loads of cards with reference height (or even design) but they are not comparable to the dual fan versions in terms of noise or cooling...
The problem that in your verison, for the sake of aesthetics, on the vga side you take away holes from the upper side, where the fans extend out (at least on most of the modern cards, which extend way beyond the height of the pci bracket), and put holes on the lower side, where there is pretty...
Its a custom case, he is not selling a system, a case alone cant electrocute someone, so no way that there is a regulation for that. Maybe if you sell a system there is, but still unlikely. And I agree with dondan's decision, every frickin electronic device has these annoying leds shining...
Based on the asus site, they say that the reference GTX 980 is 9.84cm http://www.asus.com/us/Graphics_Cards/GTX9804GD5/specifications/ so i guess they only measure the pcb + cooler - pci connector part of the pcb. But if you subtract the 9.84 mm from the GTX STRIX 970's 14.0cm, that gives you...
The swap was a good idea, I always wondered how stable will it be for the VGA, now its okay :) Can you tell us what is the maximum VGA height in this configuration? (the absolute maximum, to hit the top of the case) About the front I agree with the others, mic + headphone out, or no out at all...
Great news! Can't wait to get my hands on this beauty :)
I have a question: I'm planning on buying a GTX 970, and i want one with a custom cooler instead of the reference, the problem with these is that they are wider than the reference (reference is around 110mm, custom coolers can get up to...
I vote for the SFX version with the flip VGA, this way it is just more flexible, more freedom with the power supply and the video card choice, for this very reason i think it would be easier to sell too! (For example a lot of people would come from other ITX cases, and they can just swap in...
