I can't imagine graphics improving as dramatically as the last 20 years. I think games will be designed much more intuitively so that when you pick it up you fall into the experience and it's never the same.
And there will be more types of immersion that actually work, like the Oculus Rift.
Van Helsing 2 just came out, it's probably not amazing but it should be a fun game.
Torchlight 2 is really great and closer to the Diablo 2 Art style and gamplay.
Like any hobby, gaming and competition can help you in other areas of life. But it is just hobby, don't make to big of a deal of it.
If you play a lot of RTS or tactical shooters, it will definitely make you more analytical.
I still think that the steam machines will open up the doors for more options. If the devs start building games fully compatible with linux and the consumers start using linux we will see a big change.
Keep in mind that either way, competition is a good thing.
You should be able to get simple editing done with basics: Windows Movie Maker or iMovie.
If you want to take it to the next level everyone online uses Adobe Premiere or Sony Vegas. But these come at a higher price.
I own an Aeron and a DXRacer. I like the Aeron and I know everyone praises it, but I think it's really a work chair not a gaming chair. Its hard ergonomic frame is not designed for comfort, it's for productivity. So I tend to use my DXRacer for gaming and the Aeron for working.

I have a whole list of games that I quit out of boredom. Sometimes games can feel like a lot of work. I'd rather just drop it all together rather than force myself through it.
