Anyone notice worse chroma on 1224? I swear red text on black black ground looks way worse than it did before.
I had ( http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1832238 ) up in a tab before the update, then came back several days later and I swear the red text looks like shit now compared to how...
I'm with yeah. Just jumped from Sandy to a 5820k the past week. Havn't gotten past turning up the multiplier and VCore numbers. I'm at 4.5ghz on 1.275 V at the moment. 4.6 and above doesn't seem to fly no matter how many volts I give it. Although I havn't tried running the memory at default...
Yeah I dont really care so much about that benchmark as you can easily find ones that show Skylake ahead by a bit. Point I'm trying to get across is that Skylake offers nothing over Haswell-e in performance clock for clock, and at the same time you get 2 less cores for about the same price...

Majority of these are 4.4 and above. Real life examples. Skylake the sample size is much smaller. 4.7ghz is reasonable, but you made it sound like a much larger swing than it is. You were saying H-e high end...
Just to confuse things even more, and watch you melt into a puddle.

Why does Skylake lose to X99 in almost every game here?
Where'd you get the idea that 4.6-4.7 is low end for Skylake. I've not seen any evidence that 4.8-5.0 will the average Skylake overclocks. And 4.4-4.5 is actually average OCs for X99.
Why are you telling me to get out of the thread when you're not even discussing the core issue of X99 vs Skylake for gaming. Clock for clock the worst you're going to do with X99 is equal Skylake, but in certain scenarios X99 will our perform Skylake.
Eh...in 1440p and 4k you won't be getting those 80 FPS. The 5, 10, 15%+ gains are greatly needed. Keep in mind OPs title states SIM gaming too. Higher chance of SIMs being CPU heavy. Cryengine seems to enjoy more cores, and Star Citizen is heavily based in Cryengine
lol at suggesting buying an S5 over an S6. I wouldn't touch anything Samsung pre Note 4. S6 is a great phone. It has some hangups, mainly Touchwiz still not being smooth all the time, but other than that... Camera is truly amazing, a lot of my shots look like they were taken by an amateur...
I know this is an outlier, but some games do use the extra cores. I'm with KickAssCop on this one. I went 5820k a day before Skylake release because I couldn't fathom buying another quad-core in 2015. Managed to get mine OCed to 4.5 ghz on 1.275 Volts and DDR4-3200.
And I will say.. I wasn't...
I think the "If you wait blah blah" arguement is dumb. There's definitely more strategic times to jump to tech than others. That said. No chance in hell Pascal comes out before October 2016, so if you can wait that long then go ahead. Otherwise get a 970 or 980ti, those will probably retain...
Just like only the genetically gifted in height can be NBA players only the genetically gifted can become pro gamers. We shouldn't be encouraging those born without the appropriate mops to become pro gamers...
Yeah, Cyph's right. It's a complete non issue. Just mash delete or F2 until you see the BIOS screen. Not a big deal. Restart the PC and start mashing away. You'll get in there I promise.
Since you like your processors 'al dente' go with Skylake. Faster base clock and slightly higher IPC. Spend the 200 in savings on some high quality fast DDR4.

You can see the gap starting here and like you said it will continue to grow. PCie 3.0, dual x16, extra CPU cores, and fast RAM are things everyone likes to say makes little difference, but it...
Im sure it's not terrible... But the cooler clearly wasn't thought out all the way. At the same price point as the other cards I'm just not seeing a single pro that would make me overlook a potential design flaw like that.
Great review. You guys have the best game suite in the business. So annoying to see major sites still using Tomb Raider and Bishock while avoiding Dying Light.
I'll take a bunch of heat for this , but the brightness settings most people around here run make the blacks look like shit. Blacks look like TN panels with the brightness settings suggested. Coming from another VA panel that had deep blacks, I was a bit disappointed with the Sammy. That said I...
Agree with Blue here. Was about to grab an MSI but couldn't stomach the paper thin heatsink. Finally pulled the trigger on Zotac. Bit of a gamble, but there's nothing else out there at the moment.
Some games like Ryse, and a few of the racing games will take advantage of the extra COREs. Also, must note the obligatory DX12 games may make better use of multi-core CPUs. That said.. Murder -- probably not overall right now.. But.. for a few extra bucks you get the extra COREs which may be...
Good on the fans. I was going to pick up the Extreme, but I read random issues of coil whine, but more importantly there's supposedly some flaw with the PWM of the fans, where it's inconsistent. Can Google "Zotac GTX 980 Ti AMP! Unstable Fan RPM" to find the OC.net thread I'm talking about...
Unless it's 4k I don't care. You guys can hang onto the past I really don't care. The tired memes of PCIE doesn't really matter, DDR4 doesn't matter, extra cores are useless is starting to crack. I'll catch a bench here and there showing a few frame increase here and there. Maybe average...
Find me site review that does 980ti SLI 4K comparisons.. You can't automatically say no other site shows a difference because no other site is using actual enthusiast setups. Granted it's probably not just the CPU and partially x16 lanes on the 5830, but still. Shouldn't automatically dismiss it.
Eh check some of the review benchmarks from Sweclockers that Finrep pointed out

Seems compelling enough of a reason to me.
